alright, i have been looking none stop for civic si's and once again i have to ask what you guys think. the car is a Black 1999 civic si. The interior is pretty much perfect. the outside has 2 small dings but no very noticable at all. body is pretty straight. fenders were replaced with carbon fiber ones that dont fit well at all. he blew the original motor which was replaced with another b16a from hmotorsonline. its lowered on tokico illumina kit. tanabe exhuast, and dc strut bars all around. asking $8500, another grand he'll through in a turbo kit with a garrett gt28r turbo. brand new tires, and it has a clean title. and for some reason there wasnt power steering because he didnt like it? and said all he has to do is hook up and put the belt on, does that sound right? what do you guys think.

Agreed, maybe do some quick research around and make sure if you're considering the turbo kit you inspect it over to make sure it's in good condition because even if you don't want it you could re-sell it on here to another member who may want/need it. From what I've been reading around here and from what I gather there's almost no one that doesn't beat on their Si at some point if not constantly. But I would take a look into the tranny because if he blew the motor, the tranny was run hard too so was it replaced? But doesn't sound bad and a grand for a turbo kit (especially if it's complete) doesn't sound bad.

 

Not a bad price, I wouldn't take that little for mine.

 

alright, well the tranny was replaced when the motor was replaced about 6 thousand miles before 86,000. so 86,000 on chasis and around 36,000 on motor.

 

I don't know where you're located, but in NJ thats a very average price..maybe below average. If you test drive it and are satisfied...I'd buy it.

And depending on what is included in the "turbo kit", that may be a good deal too for an extra grand.

Sounds to fishy for me. Id pass on it. Unless you can get him to come down like 1G. Just me though.

 

what do you guys think about the power steering? he said he just didnt like ps and i have NO clue why anyone would. he said he just has to hook the belt back up does that sound right to anyone? and i had to pump the gas a tab to get into reverse???? anyone?

 

that sounds pretty damn cheap in my opinion...ive seen a lot of SI's around here going for $9500+ that were completely stock. i say go for it. and as for power steering, i ditched mine. and it doesnt take much too hook it back up.

 

8500 is about average, idk about all that turbo stuff though, he can keep it. but you can probably build your own Si for less.

 

around here in colorado i see 99-00 civic Si's selling for 5k 6k no higher!

 

its a okay deal but remember what you get yourself into bro...em1's are favs for theives...

well you have to take into account the fact that hes blown the engine once. and he has run a turbo on it. so the car has OBVIOUSLY been beaten on...if that doesnt bother you, go for it. but i would say its a risk.

 

i would have the motor checked out and tranny checked out before i bought it... i sure as heck would not sell my si for that cheap

 

alright, the original usdm motor had a turbo on it, that motor was BLOWN, then he got a JDM b16 and has never put the turbo on that one because he didnt want to blow it, only 6k on the new motor.

sounds good...is the jdm b16 sir II?

 

Like I said before...I don't think its a bad deal. And a lot of people keep saying that its super cheap, and stuff like that. From where I live...thats a very AVERAGE price. I sometimes see them cheaper, and often see them a bit more than that. Anyone trying to sell a 99-00 Si with 80k-120k for over 10 grand is out of thier minds. They're simply not worth that much...at least not in my area.

was the new engine rebuilt?

 

I would pass and buy the cheapest 96+ Civic and swap the motor. With the left over money you would be able to spend on aftermarket parts. In the end, you'll end up with a "tuned" Civic which will more than likely run circles around an em1.

yea that sounds right. its the easiest way to "get rid of it". no hassle of draining fluid t, taking things off etc. but make sure the power steering pump is there to hook up lol

 

If the tranny was replaced too, I can't say it's a bad idea, but as others have said it is a high theft vehicle. But good luck to you. I say just test drive it around a few miles before purchasing. Hell, buy a vehicle stethoscope and listen to the internals of the engine while it's running. Be careful and you should be good.

 

Don't buy a pre modified car...such a waste.
