Default need help!!!

ok my battery went dead when i stopped for gas. a guy there had jumper cables and offered a boost. i put the cables on my battery red to posi. black to negative. the other guy put them on his but he put them on backwards, red to neg. black to posi. and my battery went BOOM!!! he said he thought he had the red on posi. (moron)!!! so i went and got a new battery and nothing works but the horn and brake lights. won't turn over,no head lights or anything. my car is a 96 civic ex. i'm going to try to replace all fuses and see what happens. any insight from anyone would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Try checking the main fuse under the hood (I think it's a 80 amp) If you got lucky, that's the inly thing that happened...

Agreed, hopefully the main fuse protected the car for you, if not check ALL the fuses (not sure if there are any fusable links in these cars) and if not you may have shot a main relay.

yea, like what ^^they stated up there...i had the same thing happen to me when i went to jump start my battery...black on red, red on black...thought i messed up the car itself, but with the help of H-T, they helped me figure this one out! it was the black 80AMP fuse under the hood...just check that out...i was glad to find out it was just that...wish you luck man...keep us posted
