Upgrading to VTEC calipers, what rotors and pads

Since my SI rotors don't seem to be up to my driving style, I decided to go with the VTEC setup (I wanted the Legend setup but the calipers are hard to come by). I got the calipers and brackets for $50 and now I need to pick out some pads and rotors. I'd always thought blank rotors were fine, but my current SI Brembo's are scorched like you wouldn't believe. I'd always heard that cross drilled rotors cool better, but don't brake as well because of the lack of surface area. For pads, I want something low dust, low noise, high braking power, and low cost. I'm guessing I can only pick 2 or 3 of those. I've got EBC RedStuff right now and they're pretty good, but I'm wondering if there's anything better. Also if anyone wants to buy some used SI calipers and soon to be turned rotors, hit me up
Your pads killed your rotors. I'm running hawk hps pads on brembo blanks, couldn't be happier. Increadible feel and control

I did the SI vtec rotors and caliper conversion on my 92 prelude it was a good mod. Plus I got them for free from my friends front clip that he bought for his H22a into his 91 CB7 accord. RIP 12/28/05 merry Xmas to me!!! lady ran a stop sign and hit me. Managed to save my H22a swap and put it in to my 95 DC2 integra.
i'm not trying to be an *** here but you said that you wanted some brake pads that are: "low dust, low noise, low cost, and high braking power"? that's basically never going to happen. better braking power = greater cost, greater noise, and almost always dust more.
as for the rotors you just need a rotor that is the same thickness of the prelude. i forgot what thickness it is though, but a quick search will get you the answer you are looking for. i would just get some blank rotors or slotted if you want. i would not recomment drilled rotors if you are going to be doing any kind of serious braking like on a track.

I mostly meant blank vs drilled vs slotted. I'm leaning towards blanks just because of costs. For pads I was thinking Hawk HPS. I found a deal on some ProAct pads, but they're the premium pad that fades quicker than the performance pad

street cars should use OEM pads
they're relatively low dust, good braking performance, and they won't kill your rotors
so what they cost $20 more a set, what is $20?
brembo blanks ftw, just make sure you have them cut before installing, I didn't the first time, and they were warped as hell

Who makes oem pads for honda? I heard AEM makes the pads for nissan, do they do honda too?
And what to you mean by getting the brenbo blanks cut? I have a pair sitting in my trunk right now waiting for the snow to melt so I can do my vtec brake swap.

you're killing rotors because the piston size of your si caliper is so small, you should be fine once you go with the VTEC size, even tho it's only a little bit bigger.

Well, I killed the left one because the caliper's starting to seize up. The right side isn't as bad, but I figure if I'm gonna through the trouble of rebuilding the SI caliper and putting on SS lines, might as well go all out (or as close as I can get)

New Hawk HPS pads and calipers showed up today. Rotors will be in tomorrow. The calipers look good. Auction said they had 80k on them. They even came with some used Nissin pads (only about 40% left though). Just for a price break down, here's what my total expenses were for this upgrade
Used VTEC caliper with bracket - $40 via eBay
Hawk HPS pads - $76 via local shop
Blank rotors - $52 via Napa
Russell SS lines (for all 4 corners) - $124 via horsepowerfreaks.com
Brake system fluid exchange - $72 via Toyota (employee discount included)
When you look at it all together, that's some serious cash. With some luck I'll get a little back by selling my SI calipers, pads, and rotors (soon to be freshly cut)

whoa, really? is it worth putting front brakes on the rear, or will that just throw off the brake balance? If I'm replacing my calipers.. do I have to replace the pads and rotors I replaced last year??

Never heard of people putting front brakes on the rear, and it honestly doesn't sound needed for our cars. Anyway, when you cut a rotor, you stick it in a brake rotor lathe and physically shave off a thin layer of metal to make the surface smooth again. If your calipers are bad, check your pads to see if they're already worn out and check the rotors for scoring and deep grooves
What's with this ss brake line fad? You realize that they're completely unecessary right...debris will get in between the braids. Now that you've installed them, inspect them every few months.
