I was just wondering what setups you have had luck with in auto-xing. Full coilover setups (tein, ksport, megan, skunk2) or a pieced together kit (koni and gc or kyb and gc). Sure im forgetting alot. I was think of some Ksports for auto-xing/ DD. What do you think !!

it's great for Auto-x and track days..


horrible for daily driving..


almost tolerable for occasional driving

 

I'd like to know what the difference between a "full coilover setup" is compared to a "pieced together kit" is. My 00 GSR came stock with "coilovers", as in, there is a coil spring over the shock body.

That aside, I daily drive / autox / HPDE on Koni Yellows with GC sleeves, 400/400 rates, SPC UCAs, and a Comptech rear swaybar.

Its too stiff for Los Angeles crappy surface streets. Its way too stiff for even crappier LA freeways. Its too soft for autox and HPDE use. Living with a compromise is a challenge. I like the rebound adjustability and it is a helpful hack to use to fine tune behavior, though I would love to have a set of shocks I could rebuild myself.

 

I'm currently on Skunk2 sleeves, (447f/335r spring rates) with KYB AGX shocks and was pretty successful this season at autox. The ride is pretty decent for daily driving...but I've always wanted to step it up to Koni/GC and I happened to come accross just enough money and a great deal a few weeks ago...so I'll be installing My new Koni Sports and custom rate GC's, (450f/400r) along with a set of GC upper mounts soon. I also have a 22mm ITR rear sway with ASR subframe brace and Password front/rear 2pt solid stb's. Oh yeah...new set of Azenis will be here tomorrow too. I'm soo ready for spring.
