Default AutoX modifications

What are the some of the common (but not overly expensive) basic modifications (to a DC5) you should you do to run autocross? i'm not going for a competitive stance here, theres a local track that runs a competition once a month. i want to get involved, but i don't want to go all out on this. everyone will have a diff opinion, but just let me know what works for you. thanks

yeah tires were a given, but lsd and coilovers are quite costly right? i've heard people use the X braces, are they worth it? and rims would be my next question. i'm still on the stock 16's. whats a lighter but still good quality rim?

The best advice I can give you is to run the car as it stands rigth now. Don't spend any money on modifications that you woun't get any advantage from. Learn to drive your car, and the you will know what you need if anything.

1) Seat time is the best mod, period.
2) Determine what class you want to be in, then think about modding the car because differnt mods mean different classes. Is this an SCCA autox?

Any car can autox. The main things are to replace the worn items and make sure your car can autox safely.

The best "lower" price mods would be some sticky tires and some thicker sway bars. I suggest heading out on the tires that you have right now to learn how to control the car. If your tires are not the greatest you will be forced to work harder and learn how to get the car to where you want it to go...then when you think you have an idea of how your car behaves you can start upgrading. Have fun!

Fix the "loose nut behind the wheel".

You, that is. Get some schoolin'. That'll make you faster, more quickly, than any mod you bolt to the car.
