I was going to a party on sat and before I got to the party I saw a police officer
going in the opposite direction and noticed he busted a quick u turn. I said crap what now I was going the speed limit. He threw on his flashing lights and I pulled over he got out his car and approached mine .He said do you why i pulled you over? I said iIhave no idea why. He said because my fog lights are yellow. I said what are you serious? He said yes they are illegal in the state of cali. Was the police officer just giving me a hard time? or did he just maKe up a stupid excuse to pull me over. I live in placentia and im somtimes in anaheim. I drive a 92 civic
with stanley oem yellow fog lights.

oh wow...i can tell you that i never had that prob when i get pulled over at night...and my fogs have been noticed since they usually check to see if my front plate is on...and never heard of them being illegal...why would they, alot of cars have them, like the IS300, etc...and werent they a dealer optional item???sucks yo..i never heard of them being illegal...

 

they arent illegal. only yellow headlights. in fact yellow fog lights are softer on on coming traffic then your traditional white fog lights AND allow you to see better in the fog since they dont glare off the moisture in fog. the japs are SOOO smart. lol. stupid cops.

 

I'm sure you can find a website online about California laws. I suggest you do a little research and make a printout to keep in your car or something. In Oregon, they are only illegal if you have them on without your headlights turned on. I did my research on the Oregon DMV website.

 

yeah man i just didnt want to question the officers knowledge and then get cited. i was going to pull them off today but i said let me ask first

 

if they are illegal then lexus IS owners are in a world of trouble dont worry cop was just being a hard ***. KEEP THEM ON!!

arent most lexus oem fogs yellow? i think cops are just f&(king a holes trying to be a dick about stupid little things.

 

Yeah virtually every lexus model with oem fog lights are yellow. Even my gf's 1990 Lexus LS400 has yellow fogs.

 

the cop is being a dumb *** just go to court. and tell the judge its oem honda fog lights and if the cop wrote saying its because they are yellow just say that every lexus has yellow fogs on em

better yet, look up the violation number he gave you, if it dosent mention anythign about yellow fogs then your good to go.

 

It's only illegal if you run the fogs by itself without the headlights. But yeah, it's not illegal as a lot of manufacturers have yellow fogs.

also the yellow allows you to see oils and other things you might want to avoid thats why some truck drivers wear yellow sun glasses gives the same effect!

Even the older hyundai accent's have stock yellow fogs, as well as the 88-91 preludes, so why in hell would a car maker mass produce these foglights for their cars if they were illegal, sometimes the police need to do some research before they go ticket happy

i have 99 oem fogs with laminx yellow lenses have never gotten pulled over. I've seen plenty of cars that run yellow fogs. From sport compacts, suvs, luxury and etc. My roomates GS400 has yellow fogs and hes had no problems. Also my roomates DA has the yellow fogs and nothing yet so far...stupid cops have nothing better to do than stop a import enthusiast...thats all it is stupid *******. Even when go by the law the law still ***** you over...

There is a big thread on here on how the yellow is no better then ours...Most of what you guys have stated as better are myths. Im searching now for a link.

eran i read the section in ur link about fogs lamps and it still sounds like the cop was being an ***. i also found out mor ethan five peolpe that were going to the house party i was going to got pulled over so myabe they were trying to meet a quota and decided i was a easy target

 

When I get my fogs I'm going to keep a copy of the Georgia laws on foglights in my glovebox. That would be awesome to shaft a police officer...
