Default electrical mystery

STORY/SYMPTOMS:

so here's my issue. i tried to install my radio. the person i got the car from had cut the oem plug so i tried putting it back on. i did this and the radio didnt work so i unplugged the radio and let it be.. i didnt feel like fighting with it

2 days later on the way back from work. i noticed my dash lights dimming and my clock (my clock had stopped working once i put the oem radio plug back on).. i had put my blinker on and the rpm gauge and speedo went dead. so i stopped at a gas station and decided to cut the plug back off to see if it fixed my problem. ( after flipping out thinking it might be my alternator)..

i did this and i went to start up the car and battery was dead, dead, dead. i had to push start the car.. right after it started up the dash lights and my headlights were back to bright... my blinker wasnt causing any issue witht the rpm gauge or speedo.... . and now my clock is working again.. but its really dim(to the point i cant see it at night or day) and doesnt keep memory. it restarts everytime i start the car..

what could be the problem. my fuses are all fine and the wires seem to be fine.. i could i have losen a ground in the back of the harness or something. i checked the grounds in the engine back and all the grouns and power wires are fine.

LAST thing is i have abit of a loopy idle now.. ive had it before after my car has been warm for a while but its been gone for about 3-4 days.. i checked the alternator wire and its tight and the belt is tight and the motor is running fine its not missing or stumbling

could the problem ly in the alternator...or the wiring behind the dash .any other ideas or help is appreciated

There is really no way to tell what you have done. Obviously you have shorted out wires and in turn has given you some electrical issues but nobody except someone physicly looking at your car is going to be able to fix.

wrong.. somebody who knows what their doing might have known that i could have blown the "back up" fuse and said to have checked it out.. just cuz YOU dont know what it might be doesnt mean that someone else might.

ne ways problem fixed. i blew that fuse.

clock works again.. but still have to rewire the radio

The problem ended up being a fuse and you said you already checked them in the first post. Like I said, take it to someone else who can look at it in person as obviously relaying the info through the internet to you would be like e-mailing a rock to fix your car.
