Default What ecu or system do I need?

We just did my 95 sohc vtec swap into my EK. Im goin to keep my car obd1. I am running till a p75 till i find an other option .. what would be best option, just get a p28 or a apex system? I also plan to go boost next summa. i want to able tune my ecu as far as being able to raise and lower my fuel setting and other goodies for daily driving and track days..

convert to obd1. use a virgin p28. have it socketed and chipped with whatever ems you choose when you decide to boost.

If you convert to OBD1, you need the P28

convert to OBD1 with WHATEVER CHIPPED ECU you can find cheapest, and have the program you want to run installed.

actually it refers to ALOT more than that, but in this situation thats what we are talking about. P28, P72, etc etc etc can be talked about when talking about ecu, head, intake manifolds, and many other things.

DONT get a vtec controller..worthless....if you want Vtec to hit at a different RPM...have your ecu chipped and tune.

no, it will only lower your power output.

Ok, so I'm in the market for a chipped p28 that can be tuned with crome or uberdata (the freebies!). Should I just get a virgin ecu, or get a pre-chipped? How do I know if the chipped ecu I'm getting can be programmed with crome or uberdata? Also, if I'm using a programmable ecu and an adjustable AEM cam gear (SOHC), will that be adequate tuning power on a fully built N/A D16Y8 (11.0:1cr, Crower Stage II cam, etc)?

slight thread jacking....

if you can chip the ECU then go with what ever is cheaper. If you can't do it yourself then get one that is chipped all ready.

If it's chipped it will run either program (Crome datalogging requires J12 to be removed) It will even Hondata if you really want to.

more than enough. Provided you're talking dyno tuning... A street tune will be ok, but the dyno is the only way to get it right.

If you're shopping for one, I have a few chipped ECUs for sale that would work great for you. Hit me up on IM

Do know this, by removing J12 you cannot smog, i think...

cutting j12 opens full deplux mode, meaning the guy that smogs, cannot do the obd check, which is apart of smog. i say "i think" cuz im not sure if you have to have a obd check with obd1 cars. but it will disable the service plug under the dash.

NM your not even in cali, sorry.

stock P28 VTEC points...
low load (cruising) 5500
high load (WOT) 4800

a chipped OBD1 ECU can adjust many settings, fuel/ignition/VTEC/boost/trims/etc

A chipped P06 with VTEC parts added works well also. It's also typically cheaper...

chip the ECU, run a program like Crome or Hondata with datalogging and a wideband O2 sensor and adjust the tune.
