Default Toda C's play nice?

Right now im putting together parts for my toda head build. I've been eyeing some toda C's and ive read that C's like nice high compression. Will they play nice with a stock JDM ITR compression of 11:1? I eventually plan on rebuilding the bottom end. But for now I'm planning on doing the head first and then down the road building the bottom end. tia.

throw on a 2layer headgasket, get the compression up to about 11.4 and it should make pretty good power

So far this is what im looking at for my head:
Toda C's
Toda cam gears
Toda dual valve springs
Toda t belt
Toda retainers
all the port, polish, valve job fun stuff.

like I said before in the future Im going with higher compression pistons in the bottom end shooting for something like 12:1. just wondering if everthing will work great with a stock bottom end.

As BlueR recommended, go with a thinner headgasket to bring the CR up a tad... 11.5:1 would be great with that head package.

I have 12:1 with Toda C's for about a year now....they play nice, haha and you will be fine on stock compression, might just not make the power you could if you did some block work. I would say unless you plan on doing block work soon, to find some cheaper cams for now. But I agree with a thinner head gasket to raise the CR some if you do go with them

Also, what else do you have done to the motor? what kind of intake system? Exhaust system? If your header is too small for the cams you won't make anymore power than you would with Toda B's.....and yes Im talking from experience haha

well theres really no point in running Toda C's without a Toda Valve train or something like it, high compression, SMSP (or equivalent flowing header), and good exhaust system. Your stock valve train won't handle C's, even B's need a upgraded valve train. You also will need either a Greddy, Power Enterprise, or Toda Timing Belt...I've gone through TWO stock belts with Toda C's, using Greddy now.

Toda C cams are looking to peak around 215-220 whp on a 1.8 liter, if I were you I would build the block first and head later....the blocks the biggest bitch to build...after that you can worry about the head. I would rather have a SMSP header than toda Cs to start if I were you.....

Having the block done first, head work is easy if you have some know how. Yea send it somewhere for a port and polish, and valve job, but you can install a valve train, cams, TB, IM, header, timing belt, etc, all by yourself and save thousands in labor. If you do build the head first, I reccomend sending your TB and IM to Maxbore and getting the TB bored to either 66 or 67 mm and port matched to your IM. Its only like $100.
