Default Dynoed my B16A Today

Wish I had a scanner, but with on a JDM B16a SiR-II with a aluminum intake (Great Heat Conductor ), DC Sports 4-1 Header, Test Pipe, 2.5 Greddy SP2 Exhaust, Fidanza 7.5 LB Flywheel and an Ebay Chipped P28, I put down 152.44 WHP and 110.17 WTQ. Are these #'s pretty good for what I have? Im thinking of ditching the Ebay chip and going with a phearable tune after I put my Type R tranny on.

Nice? That torque figure is rediculous and prolly came in around 7,000rpms. Sorry, not a fan of the B16.

Your numbers are about average I would say for that setup.

No, the torque numbers sound pretty accurate for that setup too. 1.6L doesn't yield a lot of torque w/o boost.

I see your in south florida near me, where did you get it tuned? On my b16a2 similar set-up, SRI,DC 4-1 header, and full apexi n1 exhaust it put down 155.23 WHP and 111 WTQ, and this is with a phearable.net ecu.

Man ... it's sad when you add an extra cam and yield almost no torque improvement over a Y8 ...

That is an ignorant post. In no way can you compare a y8, to a b16. The b16 has been out for nearly 20 years already and started it all. Yes it is low on torque, that topic has been beaten to death already but who cares, a SOHC will never be as fast as any b-series motors, now with the k20 it's even worse.

Not ignorant at all. There are just better motors out there for the same money. B16 is bottom of the barrel for B-series swaps.

but than again boost works wonders on a single cam with the right setup, and yea a built b16 will make more power than a buit d16. B series are just made for more power.....

So?

For the same price it costs for a B16 swap (or less) you can BUY and TURBO a D-series motor and boost it up to 180whp or so and it'll walk the B16 all day long on stock internals.

FI FTW

b16's are way over rated.

yes it is true, on stock internals. now turbo charge the b16 and where would the SOHC stand?

i just look at it like this, you'll spend the money on going turbo on a SOHC, but most of us here love speed & power. once you're done with the SOHC, you're just going to want more. eventually leading into a B or H-series, hell maybe even a K if you got the money.

And with the money you saved from boosting your d16 you can have the bottom end built, a cam and be looking at over 300whp

im not saying a b16 is a shitty motor. But i know im not looking for a 400whp street car. 300 makes me happy.

swapping a b series with turbo kit is going to run you at least 3000 grand on the cheap side of all that.

you already got your d16, boost it, rods and pistons, shop fees your maybe looking at 2300

or even if your looking for mid to low 200's a d16 will do it cheaper with more torque

I guess I have a weird stance on this B vs. D argument.

I'd rather have a turbo-D than a B16. I'd rather have any other B-swap than either. I just hate B16's. The only reason they have any get-up is their transmission. Put a B16 tranny on an LS or a B20, and it pulls on a B16.
