Default gearing(si tranny vs sohc zc)

as stated above.. how is the si tranny compared to the sohc zc tranny like gearing wise.. I would assume that the si tranny has better acceleration like shorter gears... but how is the zc tranny... I want more of like top speed and acceleration.....

do you mean you want more top speed rather then acceleration? get a dx or lx tranny.

Generally, a transmission will give you either top speed OR accelleration. A "close ratio" transmission is sportier, and will give you better accelleration. A longer ratio tranny won't accelerate as well, but your rpm will be lower on the highway.

This being said, the zc tranny is shorter than the si tranny.

Not really, you're stuck in an either/or situation.

It is possible to take the transmission apart and switch around a fifth gear and stuff, but that's a step beyond where most people are willing to go.

http://www.crxmpg.com/transmission.html
SVOboy's site has a table of gear ratios of transmissions.

The final drive is also known as the differential, you multiply it times the gear to find out what the final ratio for that gear is.

The ratio of the zc final drive is the same as the on in the dx, and to make up for that, all the 1-5 gears are a lot shorter than the dx/si ones.

People swap hf fifth gears into trannys like yours. It's not quite as low of an rpm in fifth as it is in the hf tranny, because of the different final drive. But it is a big improvement in fifth gear without losing the acceleration in 1-4th.
