Default Auto-x Street Tire- Falken Azenis RT615 : 15" Azenis vs 16" Azenis

Time for new set for the new season...........

1) Azenis 205 50 15 RT 615's on 15x7 wheels ( I already have the 15x7 wheels)=> $360 Shipped

2) Azenis 215 or 226 RT 615's + buy a NEW set of 16" wheels => $450 for the tire + Minimum $600 for the wheels

What you all think, difference between these two be marginal?
What's been the general opinion? Any comparisons done?

thanks a lot

205/50/15 is less unsprung weight. Isnt this always a good thing?

What car is this going on?

Grip is more important than unsprung weight IMHO. If you have a relatively powerful car, the weight is not going to make as much difference as the increased grip.

<- is going from 15x7s to 16x8s this year.

This really would be a tough decision.
The 215 45 16 is .4" wider in tread width but also a bit taller in OD. So your gearing gets a tad longer as well.
Personally I think it would be worth going to the 16" wheel.

Its a mildly modded Intgera GSR for Street classes.

If its not that kind of difference, instead of spending money for a new set of 16" wheels, I would spend on something else!!!!!!

Also, I think the highest width for wheels you can have in street class is 7.5".

Its 7.5" in STS, 8" in STX.

If it is an Integra, skip the 15" wheels. Go 215/45/16 on at least a 16x7 or a 215/40/17 on at least a 17x7.5.

The sidewall is too tall on the 205/50/15 for good response. Slalom and transition speeds pay the price, and that's what the Integra does well.

I agree. I think I said this about 2 years ago. Cars over 2400lbs or so need at least a 215 wide tire. 205/50x15" Azenis is just not enough meat for the weight of the car.

I had 215/45x16" shaved RT-215s on my 00 Civic Si and it was a signiciant difference than the 205/50x15" RT-215s I had. Definitely more grip but not a noticeable difference in gearing.
