Default motor oil question

ive always used mobil 1 full synthetic motor oil when i do my oil changes but lately ive noticed at walmart they have this new kind of mobil 1 oil called mobil clean 5000. i was wondering if its just as good as the one i am using now. It is said on the website that the case composition is non synthetic....what does that mean?

mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 about $5 a quart

mobil 1 clean 5000 5w-30 about $2 a quart

I think the clean 5000 is what Honda sells at the dealerships as Honda motor oil. They just put a Honda label on it.

I use Castrol Syntec (for the added protection), but any oil will do, as long as you change it often enough. Mobil 1 (full sythetic) is more expensive, and is harder to find in the 5w-20 5 quart bottles. The Mobile clean 5000 sounds like a decent choice (great price).

I thought going from synthetic to regular is bad b/c of leakage can occur

I was thinking this is what Honda sells as their own brand, yet I am not sure. The bottles do look identical, but the caps are different color. The clean 7500 has the same color cap, but they do not sell it anywhere in 5w-20 I noticed and thats what I use in my 7th gen Accord.

I did use the clean 5000 is my 1993 Accord SE with 170K on it at the time, oil leaks sprung up all over the place. I had been using castrol 5w-30 for the longest time.

I would not recommend it.

Mobil 1 is only a Group 3 synthetic ( not a real sythetic ) they are just hydro-cracked pariffinic base oils ( highly refined CONVENTIONAL oils)// If you want good synthetic; step up to the Real Deal which is Group 4 sythetics they include: Amsoil, Redline, Reptiod and Royal Purple. Amsoil is only $6.oo a quart when you order it at wholesale.

Castrol Syntec ($20/5quarts) is as expensive as I am willing to go, since I change it every 3,000 miles. Even if I used full sythetic, like you say, it would still get just as dirty, and I would change it every 3,000 anyway. The oil seems to get dirty quickly in the V6 engine.

what do you think is the best motor oil? i am using mobil 1 full synthetic as i wrote but its $22 at walmart for a 5 qt bottle. if i were to get castol it would be like either 10 or 15 and it keeps going down from there if i choose penzoil or however you spell it.

Look at performanceoiltechnology.com///Changing your oil at 3000 miles is a waste of money and time. Guess who came up with 3000 as the magic number? Oil companies!! Using good sythetic like Amsoil and extending the drain interval will actually save you money even though the oil is more exspensive. And when people say oil gets dirty right away they are referring to the black color right? Real sythetic doesnt get black for a long time because the blackness is not dirt it is the oil breaking down. I change my oil every 13 or 14 THOUSAND miles.

Not for sale: I dyno'd my barebones stock 2.3 BRAND NEW *147 h.p at 6200 rpm . Last month we put it on the roller and after 124,000 miles and my Amsoil regimin: *144 Hp at 6200 rpm -still barebones stock. No knocks, No burning, good mileage. Is this insane to you? You don't know the truth about Group 4 oils and supurb filters!

yea, changing oil every 3000 is a waste. Good synthetic should last atleast 7k.
