Default Problem With Honda Trannys

I am about to buy an 07 civic ex sedan and i would like to do a little bit of modifications to make the car a little quicker (exhaust, cold air intake) and i want to know how well the tranny will hold up......i would also like to get a small turbo but i dont know if the tranny will last.........how long do the trannys on civic normally last if i were to do all the regular maintenece. and no i dont want to get a manual.

Not exactly sure about the EX but I believe the Si tranny should last a good while as long as the torque doesn't exceed 250wtq. Under normal maintenance your tranny should still last a good while even with the addition of a turbo, provided the install is done correctly and tuned properly. But of course with any modification you have to be prepared to deal with the consequences if something does go wrong.

how much power could the tranny hold (hp and torque) and still last 200,000 plus miles. and is it a bad idea to make an auto tranny car fast

Considering the amount of modifications you want to do I wouldnt even be worried about the longevity of the transmission... unless you plan on doing neutral drops?

You would be upgrading pistons, rods, head components, injectors, etc, etc before you would even have to concern yourself with the transmisison. Honda transmissions are typically very stout and capable of withstanding some serious HP. As for 200k Miles I think its possible provided you took care of everything as you should.

Do some reading/searching here on HT in the FI / drag racing forum you'll find a lot of helpful information.
