Couple Randon Questions
SO, here we go
I hve a 95 GSR. Haa about 35k on fully rebuilt motor. the thing WON'T stop purging. the idle goes from 12 or 1300 to 2800 or so ALL the time. When you start the car for the first time every day itll hold idle at about 3k for 5 seconds or so then start purging. We have had it since april, i have tried MANY things. New sensors, purging water system, switched to skunk2 intake manifold. new throttle body spacer/gaskets.
oh yeah, i just installed a vafc 2. and i have the pressure part of it reading in psi. and it goes from -9 to -3 or so @ idle. of course itgoes to 0 when i smash on it, well -.30 or something like that.
Also, Im looking for a pair of stock red fenders. my car has 98 bumpers on it but i dont think that matters. If anyone is in Washington state and has a pair of red fenders let me know, even one or the other.

Exactly what I was going to say, check the IACV, take it completely off the IM and clean it inside and out. I used degreaser, let it sit then hosed it down in and out.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere, spray some starter fluid around the intake manifold and throttle body and listen for a change in idle. This can help you find exactly where the leak is. Also pull the air intake tube off and look at the butterfly plate in the throttle body. Make sure it is closing all the way. If not, there might be some type of problem with the linkage keeping the plate open. Just trying to throw a few more ideas your way. While you have the air intake off, spray some carb & throttle body cleaner into the throttle body, clean it real good.
thanks sam. i will definitely try that. like i said, i changed over to a skunk2 manifold thinkin the mani gasket might have been bad. the throttle body thing im definitaly gonna go.
but the listening to the idle is hard considered the whole 9 months ive had this car ive NEVER once heard it "idle" its ALWAYS purged. i will love this car so much more if it ever idles
