Default Want to do a swap, any tips if anyone has a clue on the 1981 hatch model!

I want to swap out a stock motor in a 1981 hatch, and dont know if the engine compartment is to little for a more up to date motor, or if it would be a bad idea to mount the engine in the rear making it rwd if possible? If it is thats what i will resort to. Im willing to put in the time and the work but wondering if anyone would be able to help with my dilemma!? If so thanks!!!!

B/D seriers swaps are common in first/second gen Civics. I've even heard of a few doing the K swaps.
