ECU codes pissing me off
Already searched here and http://www.team-integra.net/se...ID=34.
My car is a 94 4dr GSR. Dead stock besides alarm.
I got a maint. light when I started the car to come home from work today. I've rebuilt lexus v8 engines and done VGTT swaps on 300zx twin turbos, but I can't get the goddamn codes to work on this little honda for the life of me.
My car has no green unit as usually mentioned, and has 2 blue connectors dangling slightly from under the pass dash. I tired 17 different ways of 'connecting' the two wires in the 2 prong blue connected, and can NOT get the ECU into the code mode. Jammed paperclips up it, tried everything.
Here is what I do.
Get 2-prong blue connector.
Insert paper clip into brown/black wire spots/prongs.
Turn car into ignition position 'II' [ON].
Not doing jack ****. Can someone give me a clue as to what I'm doing 'wrong'? Is there some special way/placement of putting in the paperclip? Or what is wrong with the car causing this not to work? I've got a 300 mile drive coming up on Sunday and I'll be paranoid as hell if I don't at least know what the light is on for.
I'll end up cutting the connector off and physically connecting the two wires at this rate.

did you get a "maintenance required" light or the actual check engine light?

maybe we are getting somewhere afterall..
I haven't had the car long and just realized it was indeed a 'maint reqd' light. Didn't realize there was a difference until now.
I subconciously figured it would still go into code mode without a CEL, other OB1 cars I've owned all gave an 'all clear' code, usually designated as code '55'.

It may have to do with the fact I haven't reset it since changing my oil. I believe the maint. light comes on in a series of blinks when you start the car relating to this. It had been doing it for the last couple weeks. Perhaps if you don't reset it after a given amount of time it simply stays on?
I glanced under the steering column today looking for the 'reset button' and did not locate that either.

If it is your service maint light then you do just need to reset it. It is a small square button under the steering column. It is akward to find the first time.
Yeah I'm continuing the trend and being an idiot today. 10 sec search and I confirmed what I suspected.
I crack my rear windows 1-2" on each side to get a breeze in. On the way home from work going about 60mph I heard my jacket slide off my seat and look up just in time to see my 1216 net paycheck that was under it go out the back window into a sea of cars. No telling how long that will take to get fixed.
Thanks guys.
