Default OEM Transmission Part Number

20011-P80-J41

OK here is the story. The local Acura dealership (London, Ontario, Canada) is telling me that this part number is not for a complete tranny.

He's basically saying that all you get is like the transmission housing, and you have to buy all the guts (gears, LSD, etc.) separately.

This makes no sense at all. Why would anyone just want to buy the casing?

Has anyone ordered this part number and got a complete tranny?

Another dealership quoted me $2489CDN and said it was the complete tranny.

TIA TIA TIA

that part number search comes up with this on Baranco. The housings have different numbers than the one in question.

Part Number Image Description List Price Our Price
20011-P80-J41 TRANSMISSION ASSY. (MT) 2334.48 1867.58

transmission case/housing = 21200-P21-505
clutch case/housing = 21000-P80-315

for that kind of money you'd be better of buying an extended plus warranty for like $1500-2000gs and have EVERYTHING covered for the next few years!

Yeah really man...that's the thing, if you're spending $1500CDN on a used tranny, there's no guarantee that it will work perfectly also. What a waste, you put it all in etc. and find it grinds. So what if there is a warranty? You have to pay double in time or $$$ to put another one in.

And you know the risk of leaving your car somewhere unfamiliar to have the trans rebuilt...not good not good...

Honda wants almost the same amount to do the rebuild (they have done alot of work on my car so I trust them) but again, at that time you might as well buy the new trans - faster and you get new trans.

Yup, that's what's on the box on my floor here, and I'm pretty sure there's and ITR transmission inside.

Makes complete sense if a bearing spun in the case.
