Default Removing axles during swap

Im about to pull out my motor in my em1 from the bottom but i was just wondering....how do i take out the axles without removing other things? As im lifting the car away from the engine, just knock them out of their slots and them pull them out? will that work?

I've never seen it done that way, but it seems like a hassle. It should only take 10-15 minutes per side to pull an axle.

Why not just pull them out? Not that hard. You gotta do like 75% of removing the axle anyway

As above - like alot of things. It might seem like alot of work to do it right... but in the end its actually less work.

agree with slwburn...

i think there are only two bolts on each side you have to remove to get your hub assembly to swing out... besides the big dog

I usually get the 17mm bolt and the 17mm safe nut on the bottom out and then just use a screwdriver to pry out the axle on each side from the motor/tranny. Works everytime.

taking out the axles will help remove the motor a lot easier. i always pull it form the top and always never had a problem with clearance issues
