Default Climate control: not lighting up and some other problems

long time lurker on the forum, just registered, and i have some questions.

I have a 92 lude (automatic with an h23a swap) and my climate control doesnt light up, however with a couple of good smacks around the area of it, it briefly lights up, and then goes dark after hitting a bump. i just installed an aftermarket radio and unfortunately i dont remember if it was lighting up before i installed it....any help would be appreciated

another problem is that when the car idles it shakes (vibrates) very violently(mostly around the steering wheel/dash area), and as the car warms up it simmers down to a light rumble. after i've been driving the car for a while it goes away almost completely whiloe the car is still warm. i have no idea what could be causing this problem.

thanks in advance

the climate control has some solder issues that pop up when it gets old - you smacking it makes the contacts touch and turns it on. you can search around on here for the write up on removing and resoldering, i think username sephro did it once.
I'd suggest checking your motor mounts for the vibration issue. good luck.
