Default ? On buying ACL bearings for my LSVTEC build

The B18 engine is currently running fine. I'm going to remove it and rebuild it as an LSVTEC. I'm gathering the parts I need and I'm about to purchase an ACL Race Bearings kit. I'm assuming I need to purchase the standard size kit right?

...or do I have to take measurements after I tear down the block?

Yes, I see LSVTEC builds in both forums. Did I break a posting rule?

you can not just slap acl bearings in you need to check clearances and most of the times size the crank to get the right clearances and if its a street car i would use the standard acls not the race they will last longer and we have made over 1000 hsp on the standard acls no need for the acl race bearings

What makes want to go with "race" bearings? Just because they say race? They usually run looser clearances and are more often used in actual race engines that get freqent teardowns/rebuilds.

Stick with standards or even honda bearings if you want.

the race bearings are harder, and are mainly better in very high hp motors where a normal, softer bearing will flake. The race bearings, being harder, have less embeddibility and don't take to dirt or debris very well.
