Default K-series Swap Q's (Toda Powered)

Alright guys i've been lurking around this forum for the last 2 months planning my k-series swap into a JDM 1991 CRX Glasstop. I was just about to source a k20 from a RSX Type-S with a k24 bottom end when my friend crashed his Type-S. His car is done up in full Toda; and later today i'm planning to work out a deal with him.

Now this is my first swap (ever!) and I really would like to get some questions I had out of the way.

-My friend's RSX-S has everything from Toda's catalog. I mean EVERYTHING on this page (except suspension work)

http://todaracingusa.com/onemake?id=2

Will most of these parts be able to fit into the CRX if I just stuck to the K20 and didn't do the k24 bottom end? He's also parting out his STACK cluster and I was wondering if anyone had experiences in their CRX's with this setup?

(Also if you guys need anything cosmetic from the RSX, feel free to PM me and i'll get you prices and listings. I live in Toronto, Ontario BTW)

-I briefly mentioned his suspension set up, he spared no expense and went full force with TEIN.

http://www.tein.com/flexdamp.html
http://www.tein.com/edfc.html

These are the two units he mentioned briefly and I just took a quick look into them. Again, will these fit and has anyone had experience installing these into their CRX?

- I really don't want to snapped axles so I was looking into the base RSX axles, but at the same time planning the 5 lug conversion from a ITR/CTR. Will the conversion still work?

-I'm currently planning to make my CRX into a track monster and a daily driver. I really would like to keep the rear seats, is there a bolt in cage that has a harness bar that will allow me to do that?

-My car already has the undercarriage stitch welded (previous owner in Japan gave up on the project half way). Other than front & rear Strut tower bars, Sway Bars + new bushings, a bolt in roll cage, filling the body with foam (sorry I forgot what the term for this is), what else can I do for an aggressive suspension set up?

Thats basically all the questions I have at the current moment. Given the opportunity that just came up with my buddy I can't really turn down the deal he's giving me (I understand he could just part it out on HT). Thanks for your advice and time!

Are you prepared to cut a hole in your hood?

what are you talking about..? ...stop posting random information. The SiR hood fits with very slight contact issues.

But here's where you wanna start your research:

And just to suggest a few answers to your questions:

1.) First swap ever? This isn't usually the first swap people attempt as its not just a drop in. There needs to be a fair amount of engine moun relocation, a decent amount of wiring and a few more things need to be relocated. So this may not be an easy swap if you've turned a wrench or two,

2.) Track monster AND a daily driver? are you sure about this? Define your 'daily driver' stress on your car. for example..roughly how many miles a day, in what kind of climatic conditions, city driving or not?

You will also have to do lots of fabrication to get the motor to fit into the engine bay and function properly.

Track monster and a daily driver? Depending on what cams and tune he went with, I doubt that this motor was set up to be a "daily driver"...

I go about 4-20 KM every week to pick up groceries and what not. I live in the downtown core with my school and work being less than a 15 minute walk.

I have very little mechanical knowledge but AznDRGN88 from here has done several Kseries swaps before and he is willing to let me use his garage. He's also the person i'm sourcing the car/parts for; but can anyone answer my question about fitments and clearances?

For the person who mentioned cutting the hood; i'm not doing the k24/k20 hybrid and like pr3d mentioned the SiR hood will fit.

Thank you Pr3d for the link i'll be sure to ask there.

And as for being a daily driver; i'm willing to sacrifice ride comfort since my family also own a CSX-Type S and a RDX and i'm not into the whole luxery type feeling.

BUMP! Thanks!

True with a K20, but this guy stated he is using a k24 block. That will not work with an SiR hood. It wasn't exactly slight either. I cut the **** out of my hood. Toda really isn't a leader in K technology either. Depending on what you are looking to do, I would buy a type-r Swap, and mod it, like IPS K2's, a thin head gasket, Quaife, and a good header like a SSR, and K pro. Should be in the 250whp ballpark with that, and it will fit under your hood.

I partly answered your question already on k20a.org, the Toda header will not work in the CRX chassis afaik and if you DD a car like that in Toronto its going to get stolen
