How much HP gained by VAFC (with normal bolt-ons)?
Note: Please don't suggest a Hondata S-x00 unit becuase I can't use it. Don't ask why, I just can't.
Back to the question...
On an ITR (00-01 specifically), how much power can you see with normal bolt-ons (I/H/E) tuned by a VAFC?
I know I/H/E will make xxx hp, but how much more above that xxx can you get tuning with a VAFC device on the ITR?
I'm running an old Field VAFC unit, but I'm sure an Apex'i would be much more tuner friendly.
Any first-hand results would be appreciated. Thanks.

With the vafc you will be able to lean out the car slightly to gain some power. But the Old vafc gives i think only 8 points to tune with on the fuel map.
Maybe 5-10 hp gain depending how the car is running.

I'm pretty sure people were picking up 5-7 whp on the top end by leaning it out, but I'll leave it up to others with dyno numbers to actually provide the proof.
I gained about about 8-hp on my old "poormans" ITR.
Dynojet result from when @ries tuned it on AEBS' Dynojet. The motor did very well considering how mild of a setup it was.
The motor mods consisted of:
B18c1 GSR block w/ .25 OS U.S. ITR pistons
Honda bearings
shot peened rods
ARP rod bolts and headstuds
1-piece head gasket
'99 B16 head off of a SI
street port (similar to Type R) and full radius valve job by Comptech machine
Port matched ITR manifold
ITR throttle body
ITR header w/ heat shield
ITR shift linkage
ES motor mounts and shift linkage bushings
Portflow springs
Crower Ti retainers
Skunk2 stage II's
Skunk2 Cam gears
Walbro intank High Flow fuel pump
Fidanza 8lb aluminum flywheel
Clutch net 6-puck sprung ceramic disc w/ a dual diaphram Pressure plate
'97 spec JDM iTR tranny w/ LSD
Full Apex mandrel bent world sport exhaust w/ test pipe
AEM 2.5" ID SI intake concealed in the air box
Civic SI Radiator w/ large B-series water necks
Benen Radiator stay
Mugen thermostat and and switch
The car was tuned with a VAFC on a Mugen Chiped P28. @ries did an excellent job with the VAFC and would recomend his services to anyone. Car ended up running a 13.01@ 104.65mph with 20x8-14 MT slicks in full street trim (Full Power Doors and Windows, Full interior, all Bumper Suports, and Fully functional AC)
Baseline was 193 whp/129 tq, after tune results were 201whp /134 tq

That's decent news. Looks like Apexi is making a 3rd version of the VAFC.

Wonder if it uses the same plug as the VAFC2.

I didn't have a stock baseline, and don't have the chart handy, but my JDM ITR header + AEM + V-AFC car had a nice smooth plot, and 177whp/129wtq on a Dynojet. Yack recommended (and then tuned) the V-AFC, so I'm sure it was not a wasted effort.
Here is the chart of my old ITR tuned with VAFC1.

Not much gain in low-end, but decent mid and high end gains.
And unfortunately I know why he is asking this question

That's not bad. Was hoping for more midrange, but not much you can do I guess.
And yep, you know exactly why I'm asking.

Sort of. Looks like moving the VTEC engagement back a bit as well helped in the 5500-6000 rpm range.

I don't have the before/after graph but in my case I got 6whp out of tuning the VAFC in conjunction with a JUN ECU. I ended up pulling the JUN ECU to buy a Hondata anyway
I did keep the VAFC because it makes a cool lights-show

There's the graph of the race car. I hope mine does that in the next coming weeks.

This was way back in the day, well before he opened his shop. Yack did tune it though.

i had a 26 hp increase in the midrange where vtech was just like JASMA ITR ATTACK has, but the top end was only 2 whp. it felt really great though. kinda felt like the car went on a diet and lost weight and now was faster. tunning is the ****.
