preloaad shim
Hey guys,
I need to know what preload shim to get for my ITR tranny rebuild. The last one was ate up when the bearing binded from the preload not being performed correctly(not by me). Now that I have a new diff and bearings, I need to know what size shim. I know I will probably 2 or 3 to find the right size, but at $8 a pop, I don't want to order a bunch.
Specs: 98 ITR 4.785 fd oem LSD

inorder to find out what size shim you need, you need to measure the differential gap then add the necessary shims to fall within the gap range.
to find out the range you can either go to your dealer as the parts guy to copy the shim gap page, then get yourself some angled feeler gauges, measure it , find gap then buy necessary shims, then install.

Or we can just guess if that makes you feel better, afterall, it is honda TECH, we'd probably be right!

I thought this was Honda TECH.
I guess I'll go find the answer at Hondaswap</TD></TR></TABLE>
Calm down there Johnny Cash... God forbid you don't get your answer right away. Oh, and there's no "bumping" in the Type-R section.

Sorry guys, just haven't driven my car in <U>too</U> long. The dealer gave me the impression that it was within a couple of certain sizes.
Thank you for your responses.
Hey neo, how much will you charge me to put my tranny back together? jk
Thanks again,seriously.
