Default JET Chip - Worth the $?

Alright, so I have been going back and forth thinking about swapping an h22 in my 01 Accord or turboing my f23a4. I know a member named AFAccord whom I have been talking to and he has had the JET chip on his old 6th Gen Accord and loved it he said. So my question is it worth investing the money in this product or is it going to be detrimental to my car down the road? What do you guys think I should do? A swap into a 6th Accord is like 4.5k and turboing is around the same if not more. My goal is to get in the low 15's high 14's if possible, that's what I want and I'm trying to see if that's possible with the f23a4 with bolt-ons and whatever else (Not nitrous though). Thanks - Mike

You can get a decent turbo'd car for around 3 grand. An H22 isn't really worth it when compared tot he benefits of a turbocharged F. I wouldn't waste my money on stopgap solutions if you want one or the other, you won't be happy.

Well I've been quoted in upwards of 6k for a complete turbo kit installed and tuned, so I don't know where you're getting 3k from brotha. I don't find that to be very feasable although I'd like to think it's possible.

Who the hell wanted 6k for a turbo setup and what was involved? The kit should be fairly easy to put together, tuning would be the only concern.

I guess that was with tuning, parts, labor, etc all together. I just want to figure out whether I can get in the low 15's with my Accord with some kind of chip or tuning accessory.

$6000 for turbo setup??!!

The shop owner is smoking crack, and a couple grand of that is for his rock.

You should learn to do your own research, and work on your own car. A few hours on the dyno isnt that expensive...

oh and jet chip wont get you low 15's...

AFAccord hit 15.2 with the JET ECU and minor bolt-ons such as I/H/E and pullies. So I think it can be done. I just want to know if anyone else has had any experience with the JET chip and if they found it to be worth the money.....

I've personally NEVER heard of any good results besides him, which always was kind of strange to me. But i've never bothered to fully research them. Good luck with it.

I would DEFINITELY suggest turbocharging over a chip or engine swapping. The H22 makes more power, but for that price, you could be making much more hp and torque with just boosting the car.

I hope you have a manual though

I would go with the chip... (or reseting the original ECU to your preferences and goals).

I just find that all motor is better if you aren't familiar with taking your engine apart to replace a blown gasket or so.

Do some bolt ones, consider upgrading the motor itself as well, and don't even bother thinking about swaping motor or "turboing" your f23.

They might be taking about building your engine as well. A good tuning shop would recommend that approach over just boosting untouched internals.
