Review for AMR Coilovers for FG2?
AMR makes Function/Form correct? These are the ones I plan on purchasing soon (within the next couple of weeks), but no one here on this board has them that I know of, at least if they do no one has ever posted about them
Never heard of AMR for the Si. I know they have the TEIN and B&G coilovers. I had B&G on my last car and they were great. Think they offer 1.5-3in drop. Although i wouldn't recommend a 3 in drop though.

Correct. I too am looking at these for the FA5 (since, allegedly, the FG2 and FA5 suspensions are swappable). I wanted something with adjustable camber and pillow mounts. The FnFs looked like winners

i emailed andy from AMR already about this question, but do you know what the difference is between the F2's and AMR's? i think the AMR's have pillow mounts also.

Go to the suspension forum and bone up on your knowledge of these coilovers before you plunk down the cash for them. You may be surprised what a lot of people who know their stuff about suspension think about them. Unless you are going to get your car corner weighted you are really better off with a good set of dampers and springs anyway, coilovers in the hands of a novice are more likely to mess up your handling than improve it over a comparable damper/spring combo.
+1 For GC Sleeves and Koni Sports if you MUST have coilovers.

Anybody got a link to the AMR coilovers so i can check em out. Im lookin for a coilover setup and a lower drop.
Also, is the TEIN EDFC really worth the extra money? Sounds like a very good convenience feature. Any experience with this EDFC anyone??

WOW. Those things look badass. Lifetime warranty, 24-way adjustable. Sounds like good stuff. It's a shame that pretty red color is gonna get all dirty after a while from being on the car.

Jon</TD></TR></TABLE>What is funny is that after this was posted, nobody commented on it or asked this guy any questions!! Its true though--alot of those cheaper fancy looking coilovers like Omni and Function/Form do not have the damping and better control that a Koni/Ground Control combo would give you. The thing is, the Function/Form are much cooler looking and have all those adjustments so people think they must be better, but in reality the much more pedestrian looking GC/Koni combo will give you better handling most of the time. I am sure there are some decent low priced coil overs though.

I won't directly say they suck, but I do feel there are better products on the market for that price range. They may not be all JDM bling andodized but if you are serious about performance they will perform as well, and most likely better if you take the time to corner weight the car. As I said before, coilovers are pointless unless you are willing to take the time to corner weight them, and will most likely end up giving you unbalanced handling. Most people (unless you are hardcore about performance and will take the time and money to maximize it) will be better served by a well matched set of springs and shocks (aka HFP Kit, Koni Sports "Yellows"/A Spring of your choice). IMO you would be best going with Eibach Sportlines or H&R Race Springs with Koni Sport Dampers if you want a bigger drop, the tradeoff will be a bit of a harsh ride of less than perfect roads.

i didn't response to that becuase i've never been a fan of the combination .. been there, done that, i like coilovers better
if your going to argue to tell me that i'm wrong or not, don't bother... it's my choice to go with coilovers over a spring/shock combo... it seems to work better for me on the back canyon roads

To each their own, so called "full coilovers" do have their advantages. I just have yet to see a shock dyno from one of the new wave of affordable coilovers that looks better than the Koni dynos. Just be sure to get your car corner weighted to make sure it is set up equally from side to side and front to back. No, measuring it won't work. Also, butt dynos of what "feels better" are suspect, I am much more swayed by instrumented testing.
Jon
PS: Those coilovers sure are pretty......

I guarantee a large number of people who purchase these coilovers do so because they look good and are inexpensive, not because they actually perform better. That is fine with me, as long as they don't claim they purchase them for performance.

The AMR 2006 Civic Si kit is not the same as the Function and Form. The AMR kit just came available a month ago after testing on their 2006 Civic Si.
F2 no longer deals with their manufacturer who made their Type-1 Coilovers which AMR primarily used because of the fact Andy has a lot of experience with that coilover system and manufacturer. Since F2 no longers deals with that manufacturer AMR has created their own line of coilover system which the 2006 Civic Si which is the 3rd application which has gone public.
