The anti theft system is stupid, yet you, lost all of your keys. Time to re-think life.

Do you still have your red key? if not, then you are looking at paying a pretty penny for one key. Ball park in the hundreds I believe.
And how in the world do you loose your car key?

u need a new system. i recommend getting that key finder thing when you get this fixed. a sensor attached to your keys and there is a receiver that makes it beep. now so you wont lose the receiver zip tie it to your entertainment center or something.
I personally have 3 sets for each car.

Why do people ask these questions when they can get an answer from the dealership faster?
I was quoted $275. Make sure you get a second for $30ish dollars, and keep it someone safe so that you always have a backup.

dealership can do a vin cut and program a key for you. of course it runs 100+ dollars though. if you're friends with someone who works there, maybe they can hook you up. my t5 key from the dealership was 10 bucks since i was an employee.
Damn. At Toyota, a standard transponder key is about $85 programmed and takes about an hour. Now, the key fob, and the one piece key fob key are another story. Had a woman come in the other day for 2 keys and one remote, cost her almost $1000 in parts, labor, and tax
i would recommend a nice pair of walking shoes. hard to lose a pair of those when they're on your feet! a 29 yr old person who manages to lose all of his car keys definitely should not be driving.. if you know you're going to lose your keys, i think you ought to buy a a hatch or something.. something that doesn't require programmed keys..
ha, with my 92 lude, I temporarily lost my one and only key thinking I completely lost it while I was at school, where I am about 300 miles away from any honda dealer. So I call one of the dealers that is close to my parents house told them my situation. I tell them my vin, and tell them a little more info proving that I really do own the car, and $5.00+$2.96 in shipping and I have a brand new OEM computer cut key. Got to love the lack of an immobilizer.

I went down to the local honda prying info and shooting the **** with the "boys" was talking to the parts clerk about blanks . info recevied: (now this was only on a 92-96 but..) there is a number on the base of the key they take this number and dail it into a funky pair of plier looking things and it munches the key notches away with every squzee, of corse this was a "old set" he told me but he gave me two keys for free..

T5's you won't have to program. they're programed when the key is cut with the IILCO machine. everything else you will have to program. our dealership charges 1hr labor + price of the key. I know 5th gen preludes, some RL's and NSX's have type 1 immobilzers. type 1 through type 3 can cut an exact key with the same transponder code.
to bypass all this immoblizer crap without a programed key, you can always use an unprogramed properly cut key and the brake code to start the car. it's a 5 digit code you enter with your e-brake.
example: if the brake code is 3,2,1,3,5 you first turn the key to the on position pull up the ebrake 3 times, turn the key off. turn igntion on, pull the ebrake 2 times, turn the key off. etc. etc. till you finish the 5 digit brake code. you'll see the immolizer indicator flash 5 times showing that you put the code in correctly. you have to start the car up within 10 mins.
you can get the brake code from any honda dealership. just provide proof of ownership of the vehicle.

I was a locksmith and made keys to preludes with no red key many times. We kept a flashed ecu with a red key programmed and would just swap the ecu. But yes we charged 300 for the job with red key and 1 programmed key.

Well I don't know about $200-300. About a month ago i got my 5th gen. And it only came with one key...i guess the previous owner was too cheap to get a new one so I went to Honda to check it out and see how much it would cost to cut it. They said you gotta pay $50 for the key itself and then another $50 to program the chip within the key. So in the end it would cost me just over $100 with taxes, and this is in Canadian dollars. I think you guys should drive up here to cut all your keys and save yourself $200
Or atleast mail them to me with you vin#

He doesn't have a key for them to cut it from. If he had a key, it'd be a lot cheaper than $200. Honda doesn't store keys by VIN numbers or anything like that. I know 97 and 98 Preludes have it really bad. You'd have to replace the immobilizer unit if you wanted that with your car if you lost your last key.
