If you don’t have a welder go ahead a buy some $150 linkage. However you’re wrong if you have some kind of idea the welded linkage is some how inferior. As long as you do it right it’s the same ****. Since I’ve done a few swaps and h-motors is always nice enough to include linkage, I’ve got this down. The key is to make sure the final product is lined up properly.

Tools needed:
Speedy-grinder
Welder (you can rent this at the home depot)
Sharpie
Spray paint

What you do:
1. take the teg linkage, and take it apart.
2. with your speedy-grinder, grind off all the undercoating and paint over about 10 inches until it’s all shiny all the way around. This is done on the longest straight part of the linkage.
3. take some kind of straight edge and make 2 lines on the new shiny surface. Put hash marks on one line. The lines should be about 180* from each other. So one line looks like this ________ and the other looks like this -/-/-/-/-/-/-/ you get the idea. They need to be as long as possible.
4. now mark out 2 3/8” some where in that section.
5. cut it out the 2 3/8” section.
6. align the lines back up _____ -/-/-/-/-/-/ this makes everything true.
7. weld
8. paint
9. repeat with the other bar.

A better way to weld up linkage and such like that is to take a pipe that has the same ID as the linkage does OD, drill holes in it and plug weld it. It acts like a sleeve *edit* Then weld each end up. This way, even if you have to hammer in the linkage, you know its going to be straight.

Hasport makes some good stuff, but there is nothing wrong (or getto) with cutting and welding linkage!!

Plus there is the fact that if you don't have Hasport mounts, different engine placement may cause the Hasport linkage to not work correctly!

Here is a write-up on how I did it;
