Hey guys,
I just bought a B16A2 and come to find out the hole where the rear mount bracket attaches is busted. Here is my perdicament...

That section missing there should be complete with a hole, no threads luckily. My thought was to weld some metal there and then drill out a hole or to fab up a piece and weld that on. I know since it is aluminum cast it could be tough, but honestly I don't have a whole lot of exp. with welding.
I really don't know if this is doable or not. I took it to a machine shop that builds race motors and crap and they told me they couldn't do anything. I don't really know what to do and don't have access to a welder. My plan is to call around a few welding shops tomorrow, and cross my fingers. Any ideas? Anyone have any direct experience with this? Share any pictures so I can give the welding shop some ideas? Anything would be helpful.
Thanks!
Justin

That's an easy fix. I don't have any before pics, but this is one i fixed for a customer. Looked like yours when he brought it in.

Wow, looks good as new! Looks exactly like the same crack as mine. As I don't know much about welding, can you suggest some things I can tell them or ask them when I call? For some reason, the machine shop in town that builds race engines and welds aluminum heads and cranks didn't want to touch it. Got any details as to what you used or how you did it? Thanks man!
you might have a better time looking for a chassis shop that good then a welding shop Some chassis guys are much more creative but it is an easy fix and I would repair it filler rod and reshape it just like Tony suggested once it is welded get it close with a grinder then use a long flat file to make it flush with the rest of the area expect to pay somewhere in the 75-100 dollar range for the whole job finished
