Ok, my friend recently purchased a 2000 civic dx for $7,000 and she bought it from a used car delership, recently i had to replace what i belive was the altenator baring it had spun loose after we got that fixed the oil started leaking when we took it to the shop the idiots that owned the car before her forgot to hook up a line to the air intake and they also put chikira aftermarket headers on it with an Si intake i belive this certain car has a D16 non V-tech but we took it to the honda dealership in hickory and they said that the aftermarket parts and the Si intake messed it up ( about $4,000 worth) and instead of her taking it back to the dealership and getting a v6 mustang i was wanting to know if there was anything i could do to recolect this situation

I believe that the 00 ex has the d16y8 and it is vtec, but anyways, how would headers and intake cause 4,000 in damage? Can you supply us with more info please, I'm very curious.

The answer's to take it someplace else until you find a shop that gives you a decent answer in words you can understand. What I do in a case like that is ask the person making the ridiculous quote to list all the things they're going to do for that $4000 and see if it looks reasonable. Tell them you want a written quote with a list of what they're going to repair.

this dx( i know my bad i ahd to look it up on the internet) dosnt have a vtech in it i know im driving it and the vtech dont kick in at 4500 rpm....the reson it is leaking oil i belive is because some idiot took the original intake off the d16 and put and si intake on it and forgot to hook up lines now i hooked up a vaccum line to the intake and it stopped leaking oil but then after a week it started leaking agian
is it ex or dx cause in your topic you put DX but in your title you put ex..... Umm, surly it doesnt cost 4K to fix it, you could buy a whole another car for that price. The Ex has a d16y8 vtec motor and the DX has a d16y7 non-vtec motor. Your oil leak is not caused by someone switching the intake manifold and not hooking up some of the vacuum lines. That doenst even have oil around it or running through. I assume a "si intake" would be one from a d16z6 considering that would be the only "si" intake that would fit a d-series, other then the EX's y8 intake maniold. Either way...that doesnt cause you to leak oil. Wheres it leaking from???
d16y7 motor. by saying si intake do u mean the intake or the intake manifold. more than likely its not 4G'S worth of damage. umm sorry i didnt read what the problems were all i saw was something about oil leaking and a bad or fixed alternator. anyways your going to want to gain some knoledge and try and fix it yourself. cause labor and local shops its fukin expensive. and u dont need to go get ripped of like i did( guy put a wiring harness on my car, and took my manifold off and got all of the old gasket off and put it back on. he charged me a grand for that, im 16 and poof there goes all of my hard worked for earned, turbo money, ****'s) but yeah aquire some knowledge towards what your problems are cause more than likely which every mechanic u might choose, unless he's your friend, and u say the car has mod's done to it? who ever tries to fix it will also probably try and rip u off.
i know i know i know what i put it is a dx posotive still not posotive on the engine type but i know its not a v-tech so it might be the d16y7 motor and yes my mistake not the intake itself the intake manifold and the motor is so dirty so i cant really tell where its leaking from but it seems to be making a spot right were the oil pan is and it aint the oil pan b/c i had to replace it
ok the motor is a D16y7 and it is non- vtech now the problem is the oil leak what i belive the problem is, is that some idot put an SI intake manifold on it and i belive that is whats causing the oil leak now my freind who owns the car says that its leaking oil around the oil pan and belives a gasket is either craked or blown idk
ok, first of all, its vtec, second of all if your block says D16Y7, then its non vtec, all EX models came with the D16Y8(vtec head), all other models came with D16Y7 (non vtec) except the HX which had a vtec-e(D16Y5). Third, the intake has nothing to do with the oil leak, there is no oil paths in the manifold. Fourth, your oil leak most likely going to be coming from the head or your oil pan, probably your oil pan gasket is leaking. if you want to help find your leak beter, get some Simple Green and spray it all over your motor, then wait about 10 min, and spray it off, just make sure and cover your distributor and intake inlet/air filter, then drive it around for a while, and try to find where the oil is coming from, if its from the oil pan thats an easy fix, just pull the bottom tranny bracket off and take the oil pan off and replace the gasket
IT'S NOT AN EX IT JUST HAS EX TAILLIGHTS IVE BEE POSTING IT AS A DX THAT IS WHY IT HAS A d16y7 IN IT AND ITS NON-VTEC....and i think it is the gasket leaking thanks for all your help guys

Take it to an actual shop.
It's not messed up, it's probably something small. A header and an intake cannot do 4k in damage to your car.
****, man, the whole ******* engine is worth 50 - 150 bucks. Yes, I'm dead serious.
You obviously can't work on a car, you're busy replacing loose alternator barings and **** (whatever the hell that is), you got oil leaks 'n crap.
Bring it to a garage, tell them what the problem is, and they can fix it - CHEAP. It's a Honda, it's not exactly the world's mark on quality or expensive manufacturing.
Don't go to a dealership, they're going to ream you a new ******* through your wallet.
Don't bring it back to the guy's who sold it, obviously they fucked you, you don't wanna deal with them anymore much like they don't want to deal with that car anymore.
Take it to a regular damn garage, jeez.
Pay attention next time you buy a car.
