Default mpfi nightmare

okay so i got my mpfi done. car had misfire/backfire/sputter/ran rich and had a code 9. took it to shop, they charged me two hours of diagnostic which was 75/hr plus 12 shop fee which came to 162. after that they said they need to re-wire everything because it wasnt wired right. so they charged me 3 hrs for 75/hr. Then they determained that the distributor was bad and they called up telling me that it was 290 for a new ones. did that and they called me back and said the car is running good and i can come pick it up. after 560 plus odd change, the CEL was gone but the car still ran like ****. The shop closed so ill have to take it back tommorow. Im so pissed right now about this. After close to 600 bucks plus the 150 for the mpfi, the car still runs like ****. The worst part is, i have to take this car to work tommorow and i dont know if it is safe or not. i dont want to get stuck.

Main part: how in the world do i fix this running like **** issue?

bah, someone should really make an updated MPFI walkthrough, I would probably pay a lil fee for that info. Im about to start doing mines and it doesnt seem that hard to do. The only thing that has my buging right now is that Im going to put obd1 injectors and there aint much explanation on that.

go buy a sohc zc. i know that doesnt fix your problem now, but instead of trying to fix it. buy a motor and harness that has mpfi.

The only difference on the motor electronically is the IM and Distributor, which he has, and the MPFI harness would not plug into his car thanks to the shock tower connections.

I'm freaking high right now lol.

Quad-million check your wiring. Sounds like the timing might be off too. If you get a chance get it timed. Takes no time at all with a good timing light and a 12 mm wrench. Might aswell rule it out as an option. If your dizzy is fully retarded it will run like shiiiit.

I totally dont agree with you. 100 is for the ecu jumper, the other 200 is for reshaping the harness so its all plug and play. My harnesses look brand new when they are done, honestly you cant even say that untill you have seen one/ used one. People always rag on me for my prices, why? Its cheaper than hasport, and cheaper than ebay if you add up the cost and time of modding the lame *** harnesses on there to run obd1. Its a cheap and ez solution

Also...
It takes me about 2 hours to make a harness (not including the time for a ecu jumper), and ive built 1,500+ dpfi to mpfi's and I do them FAST! I crimp on pins to make it faster(to cut solder time), and add new wires... Sure, anyone can run a wire back to the ecu in like 30 minutes be almost done, but this is not that type of harness, nothing is half-assed.

after it was running like ****, did you take it to a random shop? apparently they did not do a good job. that seems to be a mistake since you dont really know what they did to the car.
im sure there is somewhere you know or around you that can stop by and take a look at the wiring on the car, thats your best bet

Your prices are outrageous! We are Honda owners in case you didn't notice j/k

Look at how many "WTF", "mpfi nightmare", "butt raped by my mpfi conversion"...bla bla bla threads there. Unless you are certain you can do it, just save up to get the mpfi harness. The many hours saved, guaranteed results, etc. is well worth it the first time around.

300 includes the pre-obd (OBD0) to OBD1 conversion harness too.

My 2 cents is that we have quite a few loyal shops that send all their wiring to us because they know, without a doubt, they won't have a problem. They pay their techs more to build a harness then they do US and they trust us more.

Look at how much this guy paid to have a shop diagnose it - I DO THAT OVER THE PHONE FOR FREE and it takes a hell of alot less time than 3 hours. I could have an amature figure the **** out himself in 30 minutes on the high side. Ryan and I are daaamn good at that - I've spent 15 minutes teaching someone how to use a volt meter just to continuity check a few wires and switch their positions. Customer educated, problem solved. That's the true value of our services - you won't be left hanging forced to go to some overpriced slow shop.
