Default Spec Honda Type Events Close to Kansas

I just recently moved to Kansas and looking to find some events I can take my H5 prepped Civic to for some competitive racing. It looks like SCCA ITC at Heartland Park, I also did a couple races late last year at Hallet with the local COMMA group.

Any series that an H5 Civic can be competitive in? I constantly get stuck in the Spec Miata bumper cars where I just don't have the power to stay with them.

Welcome to KS! Comma and scca itc are about all that's offered out here. HC might have 1 event in '07 at MAM, but don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure HC also runs at Hallett. Here in the midwest SM's usually are given their own run group, so the IT guys only have to negotiate around a handful of ITA miatas.

That is what I was afraid of. I'm 6'4" and just do not comfortably fit in a Miata especially if I would roll the car over as my helmet often sticks up above the bars or hits the roof. My 944 and my 89 HB have plentiful headroom.

I'll try to make a race here and there especially if NASA has a HC event at MAM (never been there yet).

Thanks.

June 30-July 1: Mid America

That's a MWHC points race.

June 9-10: Grattan
June 30-July 1: Mid America

Heartland Park
March 29th Thursday FAAST driving school

MAM
June 9-10 – Iowa Chapter BMW Club – Longest Day Driving School

Heartland Park
June 22nd-25 KC Porsche Club HPDE

Heartland Park
July 5th Thursday FAAST driving School

Heartland Park

Check out this link
http://www.racemph.com/MPH%202007%20Schedule.doc

Note: if you want to participate in the Sept 7th PCA invite you have to have participated in a PCA HPDE earlier in the year at Hastings with PCA to qualify. Thats atleast what I THINK a PCA club racer told me. .

Welcome to Kansas...

I'll be at HPT several times, MAM once & I am not sure if I can pick up any other events. Perhaps an HPDE early on to get used to the new final drive.

Hollar anytime for the skinny here in the middle of the country - jeff@nocoastracing.com.

fyi - I'm in the south part of KC

Hey Budman. .

What events are you going to do at HPT?

Do you ever sign up to be an instructor? I'd like to have an instructor that actually drives/races a honda instead of a Porsche, BMW or Mustang and it would be nice to meet with you.

Let me know what dates you are thinking about. I'm shooting for atleast 4 track events this year. Probably 1-2 at HPT, 1-2 MAM, 1 Hastings, 1 Autobahn.

I plan on trying to show up for as many HC races around the midwest as well.

I'm scheduled for 3 HPT SCCA races, 1 MAM race & probably the early BMW (hpde) event.

I am hoping to instruct with the bmw club if they have room. Porsche club guys are great too.

We'll see - schedule solidified by March1.

Sounds good. I'm in the South down in Olathe. I have had my car into Carriage Motor Works (Bryan Haupt) to check it over and make some improvements so the car suits me. He's pretty knowledgeable and a decade long sedan racer so he knows his stuff - plus he's a great guy and a wealth of knowledge.

I'm thinking about the early BMW HPDE as well if I have my front end done in time (putting a ITR fiberglass kit on my Civic cpe)

Since I have the most experience on the HPT track as well, I'd like that to be my first HPDE of the season. I'd like to have the comfort factor and the fact I will be sporting a different setup to start the year, 225s R comps instead of 205s Hankook S2rs and few other possible modifications.

later

Olathe rocks...I've been here 8 years.

I am thinking of the 225s also once my 205 hoosiers burn off. I'll have to buy some spacers though.

Yeah, I will have to run spacers in the rear but not in the front and I still have yet to significantly roll or trim my fenders as well. I'll get that done soon as I will be installing a complete JDM ITR fiberglass front end on my Civic cpe soon.. .

Actually I'm "hoping" that I will be running 225s to start the year but that might not happen if I don't sell my set of 00' Si rims and Hankook Z211 tires sold.. .
I'm waiting to buy the 949 racing 15x8s and get either some 225 Hankook Z211s($99 right now), RA-1s or the tires I really want Nitto Nt-01 225/45/15s that are still to be released.

I'm not the greatest one to ask about this but there are spacers that are race approved and there are ones that bolt on.

If you want a wider stance the best way to go is with your wheels to be safe or possibly getting a custom hub.

As far as what I've scene on DC5s, 35 is the max you want to go to run 225s.

Personally, if I was you I'd be rockin 17s and 235/40/17 Toyo RA1 or Nitto Nt01s

I've registered for the following @ HPT:

March 23 - 25 Audi Club
March 29 FAAST SCCA Driving School
March 31 SCCA Driving School

Anyone going to these events with an EF?

I beleive the March 23-25 is actually BMW club, not Audi Club.. .

Jaje - it sounds like you are planning on competeing this year?? Is this true?
What are you driving and what classes are you looking at getting into?

What are you driving and what classes are you looking at getting into? </TD></TR></TABLE>It's actually Audi Club this year (the HPT schedule is wrong for that event). Audi did one at Hallet last year and decided to HPT this year (they've usually done it this way). BMW club took the open spot last year and was expecting to do so this year until Audi changed their mind. BMW club will be there later in the year (in Aug). I did confirm this with BMW club. http://www.kcaudi.org for registration.

I plan on getting my license and getting as much racing time as I can (regardless of which series). Next year I'll likely join a dedicated series and compete. I may just stay mid div SCCA regional racing as the majority of the tracks are close to me. I do not know what class I'll be put into in SCCA as the car was prepared for NASA H5. I was expecting ITC but after hearing that fuel injection is not allowed I maybe put into ITS or ITA. I need to get a hold of the rules and read them maybe talk to the local tech inspector.

Ha...I live in Olathe too. You should stop by some time and check out my car and I can get a look at yours. I have an EF racing coilover setup for sale as I upgraded to a more adjustable package. Also have an OEM EF (could be EK) seat in great condition.
