Not looking for a whole catback series. I just need a somewhat low priced universal muffler that comes with a silencer. Something that sounds smooth with silencer on, and sounds somewhat like this with silencer off:

I found a good dozen on ebay. Which brands do you guys recommend? I'm currently looking into the Apexi N1. I could go for the magnaflow series, but it sounds LOUD on my friends 86 accord.

alright thanks. i found a universal n1 muffler. just curious, would the universal muffler (the muffler itself) fit onto the stock 5th gen catback?

i dont believe it will fit on the stock exhaust. the muffler has a flanged pipe attached to it, about 18 inches long or so. usually the muffler and pipe are sold as one piece, but i know some stores, i think napa is one of them, can sell you just the pipe pretty cheap, then its just a matter of an adapter and some welding or clamps.

go to: http://www.tasauto.com
and look at the exhaust section. they carry a few performance mufflers that are "DIRECT FIT" style and they can mount right onto the OEM mid-pipe.
