Default Possible differential problem?

I dont really know if its my diff, but i get this sound coming from the rear, it sounds like my upgraded 255 walbro fuel pump used to sound like on my integra. it gets louder but not by much until i get to about 60mph and the sound doenst get higher from there. Im sure the s2k does make some differential whine. FWIW I dont have that plastic deck where the sodt top sits on (the previous owner had a stereo system) and the sound deadening that was once there is gone. Ive changed the diff fluid on regular intervales using either Mobil One of Amsoil. Had nothing out of the ordinary on the drain plug, very minimal shavings.

Does it whine like race tires on concrete? Have you checked the halfshafts for wear? You can narrow it down to a rotating part since the pitch rises with speed. The sound deadening shouldn't matter much, I have none and don't hear the whine.

i swapped the halfshaft buckets from side to side. Should I swap them out for new ones (or rebuilt ones)

the sound almost sounds electric , but it is a whine nonetheless

Get new ones if you can pinpoint the problem to the halfshafts. It might even be the stock fuel pump messin with you if it sounds electric.

this happened to me on my 2003 s2000.....went back to honda unfortunately because it was under warranty.....they gave me the run around until finally a tech with his head out of his *** told me it was the entire rear assembly....they replaced....all bearings in the diff....ring and pinion, crush sleeves and seals....not sure if thats what you go but im telling ya it sucked....super high pitched humm/whine from the rear over each end......hope this helps (btw it took 5 reassemblies to get the correct setting, hope your a better tech than they were)

Took them 5 tries for standard thickness shims?

There are a couple checks you can do with the rear end if you have a feeler gauge. Let me know if you need the procedure, secret member.

the sound is like race tires on concrete but like i siad its not super loud and its been like this for a couple of months, hast gotten louder and it really doesnt get louder after 60-70mph. i m pretty sure the noise has been there for alongtime but i just now started being OCD about the car
