Default Question about skunk2 intake mani.

Hey there guys. Well first off, I drive a 97 gsr with minor mods [i/h/e]. I was looking into the skunk2 intake manifold and was wondering how it would perform with my minor bolt ons. I just want to know if its worth buying for my gsr. Sorry in advance for the noob question. Thanks for reading guys :D

All I have done to my motor is Intake, header, test pipe, exhaust, intake manifold.

The manifold doesn't do a crazy amount but definitely feels stronger from 5500 rpm and up.

no, just no.
the stock manifold is perfect if you're running a bolt on set up, unless you change your compression ratio or run a larger set of cams you have no reason to accomodate with a larger intake manifold.

I never said he had a reason to, but there is a noticeable change.

Of course if he starts doing some internal work he will notice greater gains....thats a given with just about any bolt on.

Now the only reason I got a new intake manifold is because I will be building the motor soon and will benefit from the IM in the near future. For the gains over stock the Skunk2 will give you (being run on a bone stock motor) does not justify spending that amount of money on it.

The stock intake manifold will do just fine on his setup. His question was if there are any gains with the Skunk 2 in which I replied my experience.

So how do you come up with

for the gains recieved on an internally stock engine...Save your money...Its like shelling out 200 for a new bling intake..Go invest that 200 bucks better, like some cams or something or a turbo component

i honestly would recommend you leaving your intake manifold stock unless you get cams like itr/ctr then you would feel a big difference w/ a throttle body and a ITR CAI.

and take your cat off. j/k

Will the itr cams work with the stock gsr cam gears? If you just added itr cams to a stock GSR, is there any tuning necessary? or can you just drop em in and go?

Please tune! It would be a waste of time and money if you didn't!

not to threadjack or anything but would getting an aftermarket intake manifold for an LS motor be a decent improvement over stock with just bolt-ons?
