well im getting a settlement from an accident i was in so i got about 20k for performance so price isnt that big of a concern now what i mean ... and besides its been two years since ive done anything other than change my girls oil so im kinda lost in the game these days
I dont think there are "ready built crate motors" you can purchase right away yet for our industry.
What we do is we build "crate" motors from scratch to the customers specs. There are so many combinations and options, that its hard to just build it and it be suitable for every single person.
You have different bore choices, compression choices, rod brands for different HP levels, spring rates on valvetrain for different applications, etc.

You're 20 years old and $20,000 is a decent amount of money. Why not consider investing the settlement proceeds, and building something reasonable on your own. Ten or fifteen years from now, you'll probably wish you had that money invested rather than sunk into a Honda.

Very well said!
Be smart with it, don't dump it into something like a car.

Whats the fun in buying a crate motor? If you're gonna buy something already completed, you might as well sell your car and buy someone elses finished project. And I don't mean that sarcastic, I'm serious. Drop 12k on a completed, fast, and reliable car from H-T's classifieds that has all the parts you want already installed. Already tuned, broken in, and ready to roll.
Take this opportunity as a great learning experience sourcing parts for a build that suits your own needs and wants. Pay a professional to build the motor and you'll be reliable, fast...and very happy.
Good luck to you!

If your looking to be fast you need to do some research! there are alot of companies that build motors for people! just to name a few.....
jg engine dynamics in alhambra california, exospeed in glendale, cali, laskeyracing in anaheim, cal i think slowmotion motorsports does some too!
but when you buy a motor for boost and expect to beat the hell out of it get it sleeved, all those names i mentioned do some great work and are willing to ship out of state....... main thing do reasearch before anything else!

Wow . . . talk about a horrible financial decision . . .
You won a $40,000 settlement, so you want to let half of it burn a hole in your pocket and blow the $20,000 on a 1995 Honda Civic hatchback (that cost $12,000 new) - which will probably just get wrecked again - instead of doing the smart thing and putting it all into a high-interest savings account to use it for a down payment on a house in the future.
No wonder there are so many financial problems with the general public these days.

I'm all for letting people do what they want with thier money, but as far as thinking smart goes...you hit it right on the head.

Wasting money on stupid useless **** instead of using it to secure your future seems to be all the rage.
If I had received $40,000 at 20, I would probably own my own home by now.
Instead, I'm living at home.

I have $55K sitting in a mutual at 22, and it will go towards a house when I figure out where I want to move. There are no high-paying jobs in my field, and crime is too high to want to stay and raise kids
The moment that goes into my car is the moment I realize I have AIDS and cancer ....
