help auto to manual swap, wont rev past 3k rpm
okay so figured out that its in limp mode, when i go to pull a code the cel light stays lit and doesnt flash anything back, also when on the s3 trans light flashes. is the ecu toast?
here is the ecu label 37820-pr4-a11
now on some sites its listed as a 90-91 ecu and some its a 92+ ecu which is it?

can anyone confirm the ecu is toast?
for the wiring the reverse lights work when its supposed to, the key goes in and out properly, the car starts and idles fine just hits a rev limit at around 3k.
from the cel and the s3 trans light im assuming the ecu isnt an manual one, i may be wrong though, but the supplier stated it was manual.
anything im missing??

I believe if u have a solid cel and when u check it, it doens't blink then the ecu is at fault, u could do some searching on it too, think ppl call it code 0 and means somethings wrong with the ecu. Bump.

did u un-plug the tcm under the dash on the drivers side? if u dont the tcm is still going to try and look for a auto tranny! the difference between the ecu's is the rev limiter.
no i did not unplug that tcm, i did not even know of it!! under the dash on the drivers side, any other identifying markers on what to look for?
i cant try the auto ecu because we swapped it for a manual at a local auto wreckers.

its sorta hard to get to but its there. its a little bigger then the cruise control unit but its there closer to the firewall then the front of the dash. unplug that and i guarente thats wat it holding you back. i did this to my 92DA not to long ago and i went to pull out and couldnt go over 3k. i unpluged it and ran my old auto ecu for about a month.
thanks for the tips guys, figured it all out.
thanks for the location of the tcm, but it looks like it was previously tampered with, it was zap strapped to under the steering column area. regardless we got a new ecu in the morning, plugged it in and the cel went away, so we decided to plug the tcm in and the s3 light came back but no cel and it would rev fine, so we unplugged the tcm and took it out of the car since it was just zap strapped and no lights.
thanks and hope this thread helps someone else in the future!
BTW the auto to manual swap was pretty straight forward and i would do it again if i had to!
