How stiff are 1,000lbs rear springs compared to???
How stiff is 1,000lbs rear spring??
I'm looking for a nice drag/street coilover.. I know the omni drags are 12k front and 18k rear.. The omni sport are 12k front and 10k rear..
These are the skunk2 drag coilovers they are 558lbs front and 1,000lbs rears how do they compare to the omni's listed above i can get the coilovers for 257 shipped??
What would the rating of those be if they we rated the same way in k's sorry for being a dummy just don't no much about suspension hopefully somebody can help out..
Was thinking about buying these and getting some kyb agx's off ebay for 300..
looking for something that is bareable for weekend cruising only and track days..

you will need to have your shocks revalved to handle that spring rate. Look into the koni spss3 shocks, $250each, they can handle those springs.
Also, 1000# rear on a civic is borderline dangerous on the street. You WILL be catching air on uneven pavement and expansion strips on the highway. Also, it will TOTALLY change the handling characteristics of your car and you can get yourself into trouble really easily.

Stiff enough to feel like don't really have suspension.

It all depends what you call "bearable"...

well, 10K is about 500lbs/in and 8K is about 400lbs/in .... so 18K rear would be around 900lbs/in.
If you want a daily driver / streetable car, why would you even CONSIDER drag-rated coilovers?
Get yourself some Omni Sports if you're dedicated to that brand.

i don't have a particular favorite brand, i just got a older setup on my car and it just wants to bottom out on my tires alot i guess it is to soft and the car is'nt dumped..
honestly i'm looking at the k-sport adjustable full coilover for 560 shipped
the skunk 2 full coilover for 525 shipped
both of those are on blowout
then i seen the skunk2 drags and regular coilovers for 257 shipped on blowout and can get some kyb agx's on ebay for 300 shipped..
i'm scared of the full coilover having a strut issue and being a big problem to get it fixed..

If you talk to BodyKitsNW (a sponsor here) about K-Sports, I think he may be able to get non-shelf springrates. For track use, you could do something like 13KF/9KR.

will the stiffer setup stop my car from wanting to come down on my tires??</TD></TR></TABLE>
You want more stiffness where there is more weight. Look at spring rates for just about any spring set for a civic ... the front is always heftier.

You run 1000#'s on your autoX car?
What kind of tires do you have? That doesn't slide too easily?

on a drag car (and depending on preference, track and ax too) you want the stiffer springs in the rear to prevent weight transfer. Raising the rear of the car will affect the crossweights and make the rear heavier as well.

Yeah, forgot about that. I've never set my car up to drag .... I'm an auto-x man myself.

incorrect. you can tune a cars handling by changing spring rate bias. it is very effective. i have gone through many spring rates, and now i am a couple hundred lbs more out back then in the front. this is combined with a 32mm rear bar.

My setup for autox is:
4-way KYB Coilovers w/ Ground Control Springs 700.250.0300
and when I put the shocks on setting 4 in the rear I can get oversteer easily just on the OEM rear sway bar.
I think your girlfriend/wife would hate riding in your car though. Mine just puts up with it I know LOL
