Default OT: Man down, man down.................

Well, it finally happened.

After many, many years of skating I have now experienced my first HUGE OWEEE!!!!!!! Basically, I shattered my right ankle into pieces and broke the small rear bone in the same leg; ankle competely disconnected all hanging there like a piece of dead meat. Basically fcuked it all up. Everything about the whole situation was harsh. Being carried to the car, going into shock from the pain, being rushed to the hospital, getting splints, x-rays and finally geting an operation, including plates and hella screws. My mind couldn't take it.

Of all the days for this to happen, it had to be the day after my 30th birthday. It is now setting in about how much my life will suck now. Crutches, elivating my leg, no driving, pain meds and trying not to **** on myself . There is one positive that has come out of this: I just bought a 50" plasma and an XBOX360 so I set for a while.

Here is a pic of my misery..........

-WR

PS- perfect time to start blazin' again too. Awesome for pain.

I jacked myself up longboarding (skateboard) in So. California a few years ago. Speed Wobbles @ 40mph = ouch.

I also tore my ACL skiing last year, too. It felt kind of good just laying there all day for a couple of days. Then it gets boring. Better get some good games and movies for that 360.

hopefully you dont need to go through what i did with casts, i had to go once a month to get a new one, since mine was a spiral fracture, my foot was pointed the wrong way so they had to pull it down and twist it around and set the bones, but it was still pointed down and to the side a little, so they casted it that way, and i had to go back once a month for them to take it off, they whould move my foot a little more straght and recast it, i didnt that for 6 or 7 months, i couldnt walk on it for over 10 months, and it wasnt complety healed for almost a year and a half

unfortunitly yours sounds simalar, so not a quick recovery, just dont put any weight on it, and keep it elevated alot, its really does help for some reason

I once had my UCA busted and the joint slipped. I ended up with positive camber.

That makes me feel more like a MAN by saying that!!

It's scary as hell man... I've been skating for 11 years now and I'm only 24 and I can feel the pain all over my body when I get out of bed everyday... I don't anticipate walking at the age of 60 at all.

It's such a shame when things like this happen to guys our age because it affects way more than just out skateboarding, just the ridicule i'll get from collegues is bad enough.

It's a bitch man but I wouldn't be able to picture my life without it and neither should you! get well soon man.

For the record, I was skateboarding. No foot boots here homeys . Unfortunately we were not filming that day so no gory pics. I was totally choked that no one had a camera in the hospital. No out of cast pics. Maybe would've been a bit to much. I couldn't believe my leg when I was looking at it. It looked really damaged.

Trying to pull a simple pop-shove-it off a steep incline. I just landed and that **** buckled. I landed 3 in a row and then the crash happened. Very unpredictable.

<-------fcukin' hatin' the crutches

EDIT: I just realized how messed up on morphine I was in that pic

Ah man I feel your pain.

I broke my leg in college on our 6' mini. This injury was bmx unlike the previous skateboarding mishaps. Don't worry, 30's still a young recovery age that's why you're still skating.

As someone mentioned, the painkillers are sweeet but don't take too many, they'll clog you up...

have a speedy recovery,
matt
