What engines will fit in my car?
I have a 91 civic 4 door sedan, and i am having engine problems with it, it was sugjested to me that swapping the engine would be cheaper than fixing mine,
If i do get it swapped out, since im already having the engine swapped, why not put a better/faster one in.
I looked around and saw alot of different engines i can put in my car, but..
Which engine will swap the easiest/cheapest?
(faster engine, minimap work to swap)
Thanks for your help.

I would start off by searching.
/rant.
But you should probably go with a D-series engine. They'll bolt right in, and you can utulize your stock tranny/axles/shiftlinage/ everything.
If your engine is DPFI now, you have to do an MPFI swap if you are putting in an MPFI engine.

Since I'm guessing its an LX or Dx sedan, you have a D15b2 with DPFI fuel injection. My recomendations would be to do an MPFI swap and find a clean D16a6 (CRX and Civic Si) motor. Otherwise you could pick up a D15B Vtec, Dohc ZC, or you could step up to Bseries and switch out mounts, shift linkage, harness, etc etc etc.
Cheapest -> D16a6
Cheapest -> D16a6
I dropped a valve in my 90 Sedan a few years back...I searched around on here and a few local forms and found another D15B2 (stock engine) for $20.
If you want to swap in a B-series, the price goes up significantly.

...or you could retain your DPI manifold and put it on the new D-series engine you get.

Srry, Its a LX Sedan 1.5L D15 i think b2, not sure tho.
If i got the same engine, would it be hard to swap it out myself?
I read around the engine Swapping FAQ's something about renting a hoist and buying your own tools, saving you some money.
and if its the same engine wouldnt it just bolt back in like the other one pretty simple?, connect the same wires/tubes and good to go?
DPFI? MPFI?
Thanx again for the help.

Saturday I just pulled my motor/tranny out like nothing and put it right back in. Its fun. Just pop open a few beers and let the good times roll.

anything physically smaller than the car. it just takes money.
d-series probably would be the way to go, though.

DPFI = Dual-Point Fuel Injection. The engine only has 2 fuel injectors located in the intake manifold. Great for gas mileage, bad for performance.
MPFI = Muti-Point Fuel Injection. One injector per cylinder.

Actually MPFI is a more efficient design. That's why the HF is MPFI.

yea definitely. I always got better gas mileage with my mpfi crxs then when they were dpfi.
OP? I still think your best bet is to do a multi point fuel injection swap and a d16a6 swap for a little pep, but if your looking for simplicity then just find another d15 somewhere online.

Just get another D15B2 and swap it wire for wire, bolt for bolt, like said above.
If you've never even done an engine swap before, don't even trouble yourself with converting to MPFI.
I get great gas mileage (over 40 mpg) with my DPI - most of a person's FE comes from the driver and not the car.

That looks like a VX engine.
Post a 'wanted' ad on H-T for a D15B2 engine...I had tons of hits when I did it. Put the ad in the region closest to you so you can go pick it up. I took my wife's accord one time to get an engine...we just put it in the trunk. It was 300 miles away too, but I have found them as close as 25 miles to my house.
Or you could try a junk yard.

Search man. The info is pretty easy to find. But, to answer: You could plop a k-series in there without much problem. It's still a swap, so you'll have to deal with wiring and mounts but it's not really all that daunting of a task. A K is a bit more work than a B-series, but at this point, if you are going to swap-the K is the way to go imo.
