Got one because I had to work my deal that way. Dealers have to get what they want for you to get what you want. Though about cancelling it at this point and get the prorated refund back. It's already in the deal, I could pay down my principal with it. I noticed that the manufacturer warranty was extended to begin with. From my previous purchase (02 LX), I only got 36/36,000. Didn't want anything else but Gap. Talked this dealer and finance manager down since I bought the warranty. They get their commissions and I paid under what I thought I would have.

Are you reffering to the OP or somebody else?
Extended warranty contracts are typically a good investment. If your 3/36 is up and your AC compressor fails or your transmission takes a **** your basically SOL unless you've got honda care/etc... of course if you dont plan on owning the car for more than 3 years its not worth buying but in the event that you do sell it before the contract is up, its a good selling point IMO... most extended warranites are transferable(for a nominal fee) and it would definantly help sell the car down the road
I've seen extended warranty contracts save people a TON of money in my short time at a dealership which convinced me to put forth the extra money for it when i bought my Si

I didn't get it. I just don't think something major will break on my car. It's a risk if you don't get it but I'm cheap enough to risk it.

Personally I didnt get it on my Si. If I end up keeping the car past three years, before my warranty expires, Ill just buy the extended warranty (which you can do, just have to pay all the $ up front)
If you wait to buy it til ur remaining factory warranty is up...then it's gonna be an arm and a leg...you have til 6k on ur car to still get the new car warranty price..I do know that..I got mine on a payment plan, cause I didn't have the money up front..it's a 1,200 dollar warranty, and it's like 91 dollars a month for 12 months..but it basically makes my car payment go up from 427..to like 518..cause they both are automatically taken out of my bank account...and they come out 1 day apart from eachother..

Will, GAP is required in your state for every car that is purchased. Dealers could charge you, but you are still covered regardless.

Extended all the way. I plan on keeping my Si for a long time like give it to my kid long so it will come into play later on in the cars life I am sure.
I extended mine because, I commute 80 miles to work one way. So I knew I was going to need it. Hell I've had my FG2 for nine months and will roll 15K soon. I encourage people to get an extended warranty if they know they will be driving everywhere.
I bought the extended warranty because the dealer can offer me lower financing rates. Extended to 6 years / 75,000 miles. I paid an extra of $650 for that, and don't know how much it really worth.
i bought it but with as many miles as I put on the car i dont think its going to last past a few years....hopefully i wont be driving all the way to nashville longer than two years, because ill be moving there....bought the car august 29 and ive already got 7700 miles
Honda gives you 36 months, the Feds make them cover the engine control systems for 60 months.
Read those contracts carefully, wear items are not included.
Take that same money charged for the extended warrenty, invest it yourself, and have a lot more money available to make any repair IF NECCESARY.
Dealerships makes their money in the following order
#1 service bays
#2 financing
#3 accessories/extended warrentys
#4 margin on car sales
Extended warrentys are a RIP OFF!!!!!!!

I agree. They are a rip off. I don't know how Honda does it, but my chic bought an ext. warranty for her car and the dealership charges her a deductible everytime we have to bring it in for an issue.
