How much does a salvage title lower the price?
I was looking into buying a 00 EBP Si with a PA salvage title. It has under 40k miles and a LSVtec swap. I was wondering how much the price drops on them. The guy is asking $4000. I figured that is worth it just wanted to see if anyone had any input.
Thanks

under 40k? er... the motor that was low mileage is not there anymore... it is worth whatever you want to pay. there is no set price drop for salvaged title. personally, i would not want someone else's hackjob. also, check with your insurance, some insurance companies will not insure a salvaged vehicle, or if they do you will pay a premium.
yea...salvage cars can have a salvage title for theft or being in an accident...so if it was stolen, then the car wont have sht wrong unless it has crappy parts..but you really dont know, try running the vin number's history...
Excuse me if im wrong but isnt a salvage title one that cannot be driven on the road or registered??? And a R-Title is one that has been repaired, inspected, passed and can now be registered?
Off carfax....A Salvage Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds ~ 75% of its pre-damage value.. This damage threshold may vary by state. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage but the majority use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again in that state. The following ten States also use Salvage titles to identify stolen vehicles - AZ, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, NJ, NM, NY, OK and OR
A Rebuilt/Reconstructed vehicle is a salvage vehicle that has been repaired and restored to operation. These vehicles are often severely damaged before they are rebuilt and refurbished parts are typically used during reconstruction. In most states, an inspection of the vehicle is required before the vehicle is allowed to return to the road

U thinking of a car that is under Non Operational in the DMV, but even then, you can still register the car...Non Op is if you gonna throw in storage or show car thats not gonna be on the streets and so you wont pay the yearly fee..

Neither would I. Salvage title + LS/VTEC = No thanks.

I was thinking something like 25%. You ought to get a carfax on it it though. The LSVtec would make me shy away more than the salvage title. You certainly want to check the body panel VIN numbers and see how many panels have been replaced.
It really is. Even bigger than that, though, it's funny how misinformed people are when it comes to value period.
Also, Wantboost, regarding the funny forwarding nonsense, I remember a certain GDD mod talking about threads getting unweildy to moderate when they got big. I know the value sticky is only 12 pages, but maybe brownholing it and making a new one (without transferring any posts, just make a fresh one and let people re-post any pending questions) would solve your problems?
