Default lower control arm bolt problems

I was removing the rear lower control arm when the bolt snapped off. Heres a pic I used from the archives(hope you don't mind) to show you which one snapped.

My qustion is how can I get this thing out without drilling the entire bolt out. Can I just shear the other side of the bolt off and tap it through or what. Any input is appreaciated. Keep in mind the bolt is siezed pretty good.
Thanks

Did the head break off? If I'm not mistaken, the threaded end goes into a lug that is welded to the bracket, so you could not cut that off. Try using a torch to heat it up. Some of the bolt comes through the lug and you may be able to get a vise grip on it.

I had the happen on the front Inner LCA bolt I just used an angle grinter and cut the bolt on either side of the control arm...so the the control arm would just drop out and you are left with an end of the bolt in each siede...only the one side is threaded and what acctually happened to me was the sleeve in the bushing rusted to the bolt so the thread cam out pretty easy with a vise grip after we cut the bolt...HTH

Actually yes you can cut if off. I did this past weekend. All 3 of my LCA bolts broke and i ended up using a breaker bar to break the tac welds on the nuts on the car. I just replaced them with bolts and nuts from the hardware store. It beats having to drill them out and re-tapp. Just break that nut off on the other side and go to the hardware store. I can remember of the top of my head what size bolts you need. i think there like 1.25 thread 80mm long??? i cant remember though

I never really tried to but i was swapping in a new LCA so it wasn't a problem...but that bolt was stuck in the sleeve pretty well

this has happened to almost every honda i have tried to lower, usually just end up cutting/ grinding the nut off the other side, get a new bushing for the control arm and a new bolt and nut and your in business. What i have noticed is the bolt gets frozen in the old bushing. with my current crx the bolt turns free but would not come out because it was frozen in the bushing and the rubber had dry rotted and broken allowing the bolt to trun free. makes me really want to just get a energy suspension full kit and replace everything. good luck

You are right. However, on my old crx, I could not even get the tac welds broken with an impact gun. You can use a sawzall to cut the bolt on each side of the lca as well, but be sure to buy extra blades
