If you do that I will laugh so much at you, that's probably the most retarded way ever to lower your car.

Buy springs at minimum

I always advise people not to do this because not only will it weaken the spring, it will also give a poor ride because the spring rate is designed for a given height. There are a few people I know personally who have done this and have had suspension problems ever since.

On trucks with leaf springs or some ancient setup it may not pose such a huge problem, but do it on a Honda and you will be bottoming out and blowing shocks left and right. Those who say contrary are in denial because they have probably done it and just don't want to believe that they are riding around on blown shocks.

You will see them all the time riding around with that super bounce when they hit a bump and then saying "No, it's supposed to be that way, nothing's blown."

Yeah, right.

Cliffnotes: Don't do it.

I'm going to have to agree. If you just cut the springs, yes it will be lowered, but your car will be all over the road. If you hit a pot hole your car is going to be boucing up and down for like a quarter mile. I was also going to do this until my friend talked me out of it. He said I need new springs, new struts, and I'd probably have to get the wheels aligned again (for the 5th time in 3 months...) so, I just didn't do it. My Accord sits fairly low as it is, the back could be lower, but I didn't realize how low that car is to the ground until I test drove an Element, it felt like I was driving a Semi compared to my car!

For the price of those lips and tails you could easily afford lowering springs to use on stock struts, OR buy someone's used suspension in the marketplace

Build your car for yourself. If you want to get tails go for it. Dont build your car for HT.

haha yeah I know I wasnt trying to offend anyone I was just saying. Its just as good for everyone to voice there opinion as well.

P.S. If you look at my car domain pics (In my sig) a lot of people hate my tail lights. I think they look fairly good. But everyone else seems to think different (on ht at least, in real life people like em) but I dont change em. AND I KNOW lol it needs to be lowerd. Thats comin in feb

Roffles! Original topic= springs, now taillights? ROFFLES!

Springs? Ur going to somehow mess up the ride height. As in left side is lower than the right. Even though you measured exactly, somehow, its going to happen. And second you know how springs are flat at the ends? So it seats nicely into the shocks. or w/e If you cut those, springs wont seat as nicely too. If you are willing try it. Not workiing, new springs.

it takes the temper out of the springs, but if you do it use a cut off wheel not a torch.. it wont be AS bad, but sometimes they rattle cause they arent riding on the flat wound coil...

i just bought lowering springs for my accord but its your car and your choice
