Recommended Tires for 98 Spec JDM Type R Rims
I need help picking out tires. Can't afford anything too expensive but something of good value would be nice. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are the '98 JDM rims 16"? If so, get the SPT in 205/45-16. The USIM rims are 15" and you can get the SPT in either 195/55-15 or 205/50-15, either one will work.
You're so lucky you live so close to the Tire Rack - you don't have to pay shipping, and you can get them mounted and balanced right there when you buy them...

My friend recommended but I still don't trust it in the rain.

im running the 205s on my 15s, they are ok in the rain, but as with the older 215 when they are dead they are terrible in the rain. lobuck on HT uses my dead tires for traveling to the track and he can tell you its scary

In addition to their so-so rain performance, I don't recommend these to anyone looking for "good value". The purchase price isn't bad, but you will need to buy them about three times as often as the Kumho SPT, due to their short treadlife (expect 10-12K miles from the RT-615, vs 30-45K from the SPT).
Nothing against the RT-615, which is a great choice for someone who cares ONLY about handling and traction on dry pavement, and doesn't care about wet traction or value.
Someone started another topic about 16" tires for the ITR, here, where I said the same thing.
Oh, and the SPT is $65 in 205/45-16.

I have them as well and yes they are cheap and ok for 3 seasons and hold up to abuse pretty decently but are not a great tire.
They are absolutely NOT a tire designed to be driven in the snow at all.
There are better tires available now that I'd choose. Depends on the application and sizing.
what size are the JDM wheels? I was looking at sotck USDM sizing.

Didn't we *just* have a thread about this like 1-2 weeks ago? I don't see the point in retyping it, becuase this can be a lengthy discussion depending upon what you want to do with the tire/car.
