Fuel Indicator way past "F"
Hi! Please forgive me if I don't use the correct technical terms. I'm a very non-technical female (I'm a Realtor by trade) and a poster child for the "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing" club. Anyway, I own an '05 Accord EX V-6. This afternoon I used it to jump my twin sister's Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I was connecting the jumper cables, I accidentally loosened one of the wires on the battery. No big deal (or so I thought), I just re-connected it jumped the Jeep and we both went on our merry ways (my sister to Pep boys to get a new battery installed). As I was driving away, I realized that my XM radio wasn't working AND the fuel indicator needle was WAY past the full level. I had about 3/4 of a tank of gas. Thanks to this forum, I figured out how to find the code to re-set the radio (sticker inside of glove box...very secure) but have NO CLUE what to do about the fuel needle. To use a clock analogy, if the "E" is at 10 and the "F" is at 2, the needle is at 5!!! When I turn the car off, it tries to move back up but is stuck. If you read this far, thank you. Any ideas? Is it something I can fix on my own? What should I expect to pay if I take it to the dealer? Thanks again!

the cluster could have had a high quick volt jolt sent to it from the battery after the wire was lossen or re-tighten and cause the needle to jump upwards jamming it up there or setting it out of its proper setting... thats just what i think.
I would suggest maybe unhooking a battery terminal again and let it sit for a bit without any power to the vehicle. Then hook it back up and see how it goes. You'd probably have to redo the radio but it may solve the fuel problem. Also may take another full tank of gas maybe to reset it's position? I'm not too positive on it. But I cannot see how doing that would hurt the car at all.
Thanks for the responses. I did add more fuel and nothing happened. I was so proud of myself for successfully jumping my sister's car. I guess no good deed goes unpunished!

When you got the radio put in, did a shop do it or a friend do it. Cause some shop run the xm and sirius radios runs there 12v power off the gauge cluster. Take it into a shop just to be sure.
Thanks Muffin Man!! Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until morning to disconnect the battery as the bulb is out in my garage and I have no light to see. I'll let you know if it works.

not if she shuts off the car and the needle doesn't drop down to empty.
either the needle has spun on the shaft a little or something electrical got messed up in the dash.
but like a few people said I would disconnect the battery for a few mins to see if you can reset something. ( I don't believe this will work but its an easy thing to do)

eh...what can i do to fix it?how can i check it i mean i thought that was the initial problem but yeah...^</TD></TR></TABLE>
It's actually in the tank if I'm not mistaken. So you'd have to pull it out of the tank and replace it. I'm pretty sure you can check it with a multimeter but I've never done one before so I really couldn't tell you.
