to my knowledge you just need to buy a remote. I am told that all models come equipped but the LX models are not sold with remotes.

http://www.handaaccessories.com should have some

i was about to ask you how your CRV does in the snow but I see you are from Dallas, TX. I am thinking of getting one but I want to know how it does in the snow, because I need 4wd here. I have to climb a 2 mile hill to get to my house and my Civic was not able to make it up in the snow a month ago.

If you need 4wd then your not getting it with the CRV. It's fulltime front wheel drive with part time AWD.
I have a 00 CRV and 99 Rav4 and the CRV does ok in the snow but the Rav is much better in deep snow. The Rav is full time 4wd.

funny comparison. The engine can turn all four wheels. Seems like 4 wheel drive to me.

IMO the Rav4 looks funny. I wanted the CRV because its a little longer. I might look into that though.

i love the car it has over 160k miles and still runs excellent(however I do have a problem with the power door locks, i am trying to correct).

It rarely snows here in dallas but when it does I don't hesitate driving it and does not have any traction issues, where my integra would. My sister had the car in OKC when it snowed late 06 and she said the car was great...

1gens do, but I saw a gen 2 around today and they look alright.

I am driving my dad's 87 land cruiser right now because I had problems in the snow with my Honda, and I love toyotas and have great faith in their 4 wheel drive system.

I love the looks of the CR-V but I also require a serious 4 wheel drive experience, which the CR-V cannot provide for me.

Maybe a set of 17s would do it on a rav4, like it did for this cr-v?

The Rav does have an unusual look to it ...I'll give you that. Between the two my preference is my CRV.

I provided the comparison based on fact since I own both and because of where I'm from in Canada where there is considerable amounts of snow. This I believe gives credibility rather than talking out of a hat.

if I wanted a TRULY real 4wd experience I would keep driving my land cruiser but I can't afford gas because I am getting 8 MPG.

I want something with 4wd yet economical too.
