Anyone know how easy it is to do the half shaft bearing? Crawled under for an oil change and noticed it was a little leaky and black gritty grease around the cv axle, where it locks into the half shaft. Honda isn't charging an arm and a leg for the bearing so Im wondering how labor intensive it is. If its just a simple pull the clips and press it in then Im all for it. Thanks

why don't you just change the whole axle? it's a pretty simple job.

 

2 circlips a bearing and seal, that be all. if u dont feel comfortable take it to a local driveshaft shop they shouldnt charge much at all.

 

^you rhymed!! that's what i figured but wasn't sure. any tell tale signs for a bad bearing? really don't wanna replace something that might not be bad in the first place.

 

that is a sealed bearing...your leak is coming from somewhere else. There is not enough grease in them to leak out all over the place. It is most likely coming from the inner axle boot. Even if the band is on and the boot is ok it will still expell grease.

 

sealed bearing or not something is wrong with it. the shaft is off and im looking at it. should it have play? at all?
