Default Civic recall costs $95??!!

I got aleast 2 of the letters in the mail saying that my engine might be leaking oil and that the airbag sensor wasn't working correctly. I haven't really noticed anything wrong with it so I decided not to go until the passenger door lock doesn't open. So I make an appointment and they send me an email saying it will cost me $95 Repair Service(s):
Other Diagnosis/Repair - RECALL AIRBAG WIRES AND OIL LEAKING - $95 (Diagnostic fee only)
Why do I have to pay a diagnostic fee? This is a recall problem and it's something wrong with the car not something I did to it! I tried calling and they said the service advisor isn't there and I would have to leave voicemail. Has anyone got charged for these?

Hell No..you're not supposed to have to pay for a recall...it's not a problem that you caused..and besides..a recall is something that the factory is doing to make sure and cover their ***..and I guess to protect you too..

If you receive a letter for recall, you cannot be charged. Talk to a manager.

Damn, you guys beat to the punch.

yea they forgot to note it as "warranty" work.

But look how much the dealership is raping honda for "checking things"
95 bux... for 1 car... and they get about 60% reibursed i believe.
now figure how many people bring the car in...

insanity.

I'll open a dealership and give all HT members a discount.

glad to see you didn't get charged!!! just like everyone else said there should NEVER be a charge for a safety recall on your car. it is something that the factory noticed is a safety defect and they HAVE to repair it FREE of charge

Is that a certain group that came from the factory or all of us that are being recalled?

Owners of effected vehicles are notifed by mail ... The air bag issue is the pass. seatback pinches a wire to the OPDS unit and the pass airbag light says OFF all the time even if there is amble weight in the seat. Leak is either the PS pump(non-si's) or the rear main seal. But as I said if your vehicle is likely to have any of these issues you'll be notified and asked to take your car into your dealership

Honda has narrowed the problems down to certain VIN ranges; not all cars are being recalled

I'd imagine that the 07 models have been taken care of from the factory...
