Default Question about Cold Air Intake

I have the AEM CAI, and I was wondering, we get a lot of rain here in Florida, first off, where do I get that bypass thing at..I called AEM and they didn't have it..and I've been told that you can use them off of other vehicles..like someone told me
(I work at a car dealership) and we have a Scion XB..and he told me I could take it off that ...would that work?? And also..like when it's been raining, or I wash my car, i'll take off, and when I get to around 5 rpm's ...you can hear the intake like it's sucking in water, and I make sure and let off the gas right away...but is that hurting it everytime I do that?? or does it only hurt it if you continue to press the gas or something..the engine kicks back..and I'll take your responses off the air..thanks..lol

Okay, bro, I wouldn't recommend taking a bypass valve off another car.... specifications differ and all, unless you know that it'll work and you don't have to rig it. Highly recommend an Injen hydroshield, you can get one online, it's fairly reasonably priced.... just make sure you correspond with injen on the size of your filter because they have different sizes of hydroshields.

about the by pass valve. you cannot put a by pass valve on our CAI unless you cut the tube (Dont recommend) Like he said ^^^^^ just get a hydro shield and you should be good. I was down in Florida for a week and it just poured the whole time and I had no problems on freeways and all.

You only will have problems with water if you continue to go through deep puddles where water is continuously going up around your filter. AEM intake isn't hard to get water too. Injen is more protected.

As long as the pipe diameter is the same size, any bypass filter would work. People would be surprised though on how much water is really needed to lock an engine up. Its possible though, don't get me wrong.

a little bit of water will not hurt. the temperatures in the combustion chamber are very high so small amounts of water will just evaporate instantly

For what its worth, I actually clean inside of an engine using water. Its an old trick, you have to know what your doing but you are basically steam cleaning your engine.

Unhook the brake booster vacuum and let it suck in water. Its an old time trick, my college teacher taught me it back in the day.
